Hi Guy's
Have just modified my R170 with, a new pulley for the supercharger, a remap, sprintbooster, K & N filter and racing cats. The car definitely has more of a kick but the drive is just not right. I'm guessing i need to look at the wheels. Do you know if 18inch alloys can go straight on the car without any modifications? If anyone has changed their wheels can I see some pics.
Thanks
Sushil

I heard from many slk members and also mercedes benz mechanics,
that the K&N airfilter is no good for a mercedes benz, because it can cause problems to the sensor.

Greenfilter is I guess the safe way to go...I might be wrong!

Huge debates everywhere regarding K&N - seems that properly used and cleaned, they are fine. People tend to over oil them, which contaminates the MAF, which is "bad".

I've used a K&N for the last 4 years without any issues, but UK is right, over oiling will foul the MAF sensor. Not detrimental, you'll just need to clean it (sensor). And green filters are not available for the R170.

I hate to say it but, you wasted your money on the sprintbooster as the car will "learn" the electrical input from it and adjust accordingly.

Thanks for asking the initial question though as I'm considering 18" double spoke 209s off a C55.

Hi Guy's
So far no problem with the K and N Filter.
Has anyone actually changed their alloys and has it improved the handling?

I have the same K&N 33-2256 and love it, I could not find a good deal on ebay so I found a discount coupon here: K&N 33-2185, or you can try one of the vendors on the forum here, you can usually find a good deal that way as well. This was very easy to install and I love it. :rb

Hmmm, I doubt the K&M ruined your O2 sensor as any oil from the filter would be burned off way before it reached your sensor. If you've got close to or over 100K, it was definately time for the sensor to go. I had to replace mine at 110K...RIP!
