Hi , I ve been looking here for some info , I own a 1999 RHD SLK230 compressor now with lots of problems , the car as been standing for about 2 and half years , sometimes being started every couple of months , because I am unable to drive it , I have had knee surgery and now prothese , I have difficulties to enter the car , hence it as been standing for long time unused .
Story short : Bat was flat ( had a flat bat a few times before after a few weeks sometimes , funny , car has never been driven in rain or wet , parked in dry garage , so I didn't expect any corrosion probs , BUT opening the PSE I found green corrosion , watertraces and two resistors burned out .
so PSE is a 170 8000 548 unit not working , no interior light no doorlocks, no windows opening etc .. I found fuse 9 and fuse 35 burned , Have replaced them with a 50 watts bulb to see what happens and Hazard switch pushing blows fuse 35 or lights up 50 watts bulb, meaning a short circuit when hazard switch is pushed , why ???? car as been started with battery charger -booster over tension ? key works, alarm module works as 1 flash open 3 flashes alarm on .don't know if sirene/horn really works but unable to run engine when alarmed , when alarm off I can run the engine and move the car , but that's it so far .
Anyway I hope as a new member not knowing my way here , that some good sole wants to help me out , first by moving my questions and problems to the right forumplaces and further somebody who can help me out to solve the problems of this merc.
thx for reading and help, Benjamin .. ( living in Belgium now )

When a vehicle stands for a long time, I think a little corrosion around electrical switches, fuses and relays is inevitable - a combination of condensation from temperature fluctuations and general oxidation.

Secondly, , my dad had a charger/booster/starter unit many years ago and after I used it to start my Moto Guzzi, with electronic ignition, and experienced some gremlins, I phoned the manufacturer of the unit. To my dismay, even the customer services guy admitted that the output on most small units of that nature are not very well regulated and he advised not to use that function unless it was an absolute emergency and especially not on vehicles with complex electronics... This was quite a few years ago.

Anyway, my advice, get a brand new battery, fully charged and try to drive the car, using as many of the electrics/switches as possible. Hopefully some of the corrosion will be displaced and you will be left with addressing just the items which have been irreparably damaged.

Had similar issues with my 230.
You may get away with opening the pse and some cleaning, soldering and perhaps replacing any blown capacitors.
http://www.slkworld.com/slk-r170-class-diy/115065-pse-removal-refit-check-turn-over-required.html
I don't remember cost, but a brand new pse is expensive.
Even a used one is not cheap (and no guarantee that it is in good condition.).

I'm not sure if there is a video, but have a look:

The battery. A brand new, fully charged battery discharges on just 3 weeks standing.
Consider a charger, if you are able to use one.

The roof uses a lot of power. If you do not use the car often, or only take short trips
I suggest only using the roof with the engine running.
