Have a 2000 year SLK R170

has Merc 16 " Wheels

now I have 205/55/16 all around,

the back alloys seem to be wider , I know you can put 225 s on

Is it ok to run the car on the tyres I have fitted ?

Cheers

Ploppy

Stock OEM tire sizes are

16 inch rims
Front 205-55-16
Rear 225-50-16

17 inch rims
front 225-45-17
Rear 245-40-17

Note for winter tires the 205-55-16 is approved for all four corners.

I have the opposite issue & have 225-50-16 on all four sides I think the wheels are different as the bead on the inside of the rear is flush And the ones on the front are staggered. I guess I need to change the front tyres as is judders like out of balance wheels at 70 mph (legal road speed in the UK!)

I didn't fit them its a new car to me I think I will be getting some new, correct sized tyres soon. I just need to make sure that the wheel rims are not both of the rear type.

OK so I fitted new Bridge stones all round with the correct sizes & its a new car, it handles so much better, it make much less noise & appears to use less fuel.

Good choice in my opinion!
