Hi All,
How do I find what size tyres my r170 is meant to have on it?
The car came with no user manual in the glove box, and I'm not sure the tyres on it are the correct size (Front-205/55R16 91W Rear-225/55ZR16 95W)
Also any reccomendations for a reasonably priced tyre to drive in a usually slightly damp Scotland...
Thanks!

^^------- The info you're looking for is in your car's brochure, available from the link Jeff posted above. :tu:

Word of caution:

Some owners change wheel sizes.
If they have then the guides/manuals are irrelevant.

Compare the recommended given by the methods above to what you already have.

If they are different then it may be worth dropping by a tyre warehouse and having a chat.

After much deliberation and checking reviews, I'm going to put a set of these on mine:

Wrong size.
Should be 205/55 and 225/50.

Plug your reg into Kwikfit. They'll tell you what you need, assuming it's got the original wheels. They came with 16" and 17" rims. Mine had 17" but I changed to 16". Better comfort, steering and fuel consumption and I thought it looked better with 16's. The steering on the A170 was not the best.:surprise:

Bizarrely they're exactly what I ended up deciding on!
Well, I think they make a lot of sense for UK weather and all the reviews I found online, and people I've spoken with give them a big thumbs up. I know too many cases of people in sports cars, especially Porsches, aquaplaning on sudden surface water, with dire consequences. Also, I didn't at all like the Pirelli P-Zeros that were fitted as standard and since my car, despite several trips to a recommended alignment specialist, wears its tyres unevenly, especially at the front inner edge, I didn't fancy paying twice the price for softy Michelins or Continentals.

I haven't gotten mine yet, so keep me posted with your experience. :tu:

Long story, but I didn't get around to buying new tyres back in the Spring. That being the case I'll probably order the Uniroyal Rainsport 3s tomorrow - unless anyone advises me to think again!

Thanks for the headsup! Yep, I found Camskill to be the cheapest by a few quid. For my 55 (18''), the total comes to £287.66. My rims are getting refurbed, so I'm not sure when I'll actually put them on the car, but with the way the Pound has dropped, I don't think these prices will be with us for very long. I'm still running my 'winter' 17'' rims, rears at abt 3mm tread, but one with a slow puncture - which is starting to get on my nerves. Might just switch off the ESP and light them up....>:D

ETA: So, boots ordered and a very informative chat with the petrolhead who assisted me. Expect prices to rise 20% at least very soon... I think I've also found the reason 'M' (Mercedes marked tyres) are recommended and comparatively a lot more expensive.
