Brain picking time again , guys & gals .

I'm trying to sort out a problem for a member on the national forum I'm on and need some advice from the r170 experts please .

The problem is the following :
When the indicator/turn signal is used , indifferent of which side , both sides indicators come on ( same as the hazard/emergency lights ) .

Any ideas would be appreciated !

Shouldn't be a bulb as they all work , just not how they should !

What do you mean by the multi function switch ?

on some model cars, when a bulb is bad, the signal will blink faster so I was just throwing that out for what it was worth. Apparently it was worth bubkis!

Is there a relay switch in the R170 that may be common to the indicator stalk/lever and the "hazards" switch? Just thinking that the indicator lever switch may be either be faulty or a faulty relay is sending the signal to all sides irregardless of the indicator control lever position.

Oh , ok , you mean the indicator stalk , could be ..

I believe the indicator relay for the pre facelift r170's ( just found out it's a 98 ) is built into the ECU , N10-3 module ?

What's exactly the connection between the PSE pump and the indicators ?

I asked the owner if he'd checked it for corrosion and he NOW tells me , that he's just bought the car , never tried the indicators before and has no PSE pump what so ever !!!

Very probable culprit , right ?
