Well, I just picked up my new (to me) 2012 slk55 and I've got a question that the non-MB dealer can't answer (and is waiting for a callback from MB):

the trunk won't lock.

Car locks with fob (both doors), lights flash, etc but the trunk can still be opened by hand.

Nothing I can do seems to be able to get the trunk lock coordinated with the door locks.

I'm thinking the previous owner had changed "something". The only thing I can come up with (google is no help) after reading the manual ;) is to do a factory reset on both fobs.

Is this the only solution or what am I doing wrong?

Can it be locked from the dash button?

Dash button? Not if I can't find it. Can't find a button reference in the manual nor if I actually look on the dash. I'm so embarrassed :(

have you eyeballed the trunk latch to make sure it is not 'locked' open?

you can try a battery reset for giggles

usually clears up issues

disconnect your car battery negative cable for a minimum of 30 minutes
reconnect cable
reset clock and synch your windows

lock car and try trunk

Roof is ok.
Trunk partition is ok (roof works ok; woulldn't if the shelf or lid were "off").

It doesn't "pop open" . I have to work the latch to get it open.

Woulld it be because I've got the key fob in my pocket?

I'll try without the fob and see what happens.

do you have the manual key/valet key in your key fob?
if so, try it in the trunk lock
it might be 'locked' open

That was it. Even though the doors were locked, having the fob in my pocket allowed the trunk to open. I left the fob in the house and tried to open the trunk. Now it won't open.

:)

Thanks for helping me get my brain in gear.
