Hi Guys, Just picked up my 2004 SLK 200 and having a great time in it! However the trunk/boot lid seems very heavy to open and shuts very fast. Do I need to replace the gas struts? All help gratefully received.

As you've now already discovered for yourself in another thread, there are other threads on this quite common issue, and it's likely that you may want to replace your boot/trunk struts:
http://www.slkworld.com/slk-r170-class-diy/52857-r170-boot-trunk-gas-struts.html
http://www.slkworld.com/slk-r171-class-diy/20064-diy-r171-trunk-struts-replacement.html

The good news is that it's a very low cost issue to resolve (a pair of replacement struts are available from eBay, or elsewhere, for around £20 delivered)! :tu:
