Hi,

Tried to recreate a missed fire CEL yesterday. Floored the accelerator while doing 50mph. 200 feet later car would not pick up like it was in neutral. Gave it more gas but engine rpm stayed at ~4000. Pushed gear lever to left and right, nothing changed. Indicator remained at "D". Pulled over to the shoulder and stopped. Checked the dash. No CEL. RPM normal. Gave it gas and the car was back to normal. Can anyone tell me what was happening and why the transmission (clutch) dis-engaged like that?

Thanks.

I am having the same issue or similar. How many miles do you have on your car?

If I hard accelerate and then release the gas pedal the same effect happens the car drops into neutral and I have to virtually stop until it will go into gear again.

Please Help!

"same transmission?" I would not think so since my car has 355hp but I am thinking it must be a sensor or computer issue that might be common to them both or all models. Let me know if you hear anything.

I took the car to the dealer and ran a code check. Two transmission related codes were stored. Problem could be either the valve body (did not receive good signal) or low on transmission fluid.

According to the technician the transmissison fluid was low. He topped it off a little higher and cleared the codes. The transmission was flushed several months ago and was filled to the top of the Max level. But today it was filled 3/8" beyond the max according to the measuring tool I purchased from ebay. I was told the fluid on these transmissions should be filled a little higher.

Did this resolve the issue?

Well, I could not recreate the problem to show the technician but it seemed to shift (no more first to second gear jolt) and drive (more power) alot better than before. I think he may have cleared the adaption as well. I have not had a chance to recreate the problem afterwards. Will report back later.
