Hello!

I'm thinking of buying a tuning chip for my SLK 230 R170 2002 (Kompressor)

I've been looking at theese :
SLK 230 Chip | eBay

And i'm thinking about buying this one

DVM Performance Chip for MERCEDES-BENZ SLK CLASS 98-10

DVM Performance Chip for MERCEDES-BENZ SLK CLASS 98-10 | eBay

Does anyone know if it fits/or works? Or do you know any other chip i could buy that works?

Regards Tim
I think the above items are a waste of money.
Id stay with known companies such as Kleemann A site Sponsor.
Piasini Engineering
VÄTH

& more hopefully other people will chime in about their experiences good or bad.

Like I posted in another thread the best bang for your buck slk230 mod is the ASP pulley, 30hp to the wheels makes a huge difference :burnout:, I picked-up my pulley for $400 USD a couple of years back, I don't know what the prices are now but i doubt they skyrocketed

i've been in touch with ASP this week, they are still in production, price is $600 with a $300 core charge. my plan for this winter is to do a supersprint header, eisenmann exhaust, ASP pully, and eurocharged tuning, maybe a supersprint too :p

Try a "GForce" Performance Module, go to their site and check out the performance gains (they are true) and especially the price!
I installed one on my '99 SLK230 around 9,000 miles ago and have had NO problems at all: Gained hp., mpg. & torque, no motor problems; the actual installation took about 1/2 hour with normal hand tools.

those cheap resistor chips just fool the ecu into thinking its cold start time all the time and are a waste of money.allso the mpg thing with tuning I think is dubious I had my audi a3 2.0 tdi professionally re mapped on a rolling road I was told that I can have economy or power if tuned for economy I would gain around 5 bhp and a little tourque but would probably be un noticeable I went for power/tourque and only lost 10mpg but got a noticeable 35bhp and 85 ft/ilb tourque.i was told with an auto they could get mpg improvements with power gains by lowering the shift points in the rev range via the gearbox ecu but these gains in mpg would only show when daily driving around town ie at 30 mph you would be cruising at a lower rpm
