First Twin-Turbo Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Is an 800 HP Demon

First Twin-Turbo Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Is an 800 HP Demon - autoevolution

We all knew a tuner out there would dare shatter the 2016 Mustang Shelby GT350's naturally aspirated aura in twin-turbo fashion and here we are, talking about the result of such a tech job.

Ladies and gentlemen drivers, you are looking at the world's first TT 2016 Shelby GT350, a boosted pony that comes from Hellion Power Systems. We should probably make things clear here - the muscle machine you see in these images is a Shelby GT350R, which only makes things even spicier.
Let's talk figures, shall we?

The developer, which is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is currently playing the teasing game, so we only have a few photos of the 'Stang to show you. Nevertheless, thanks to the Mustang6G forum, we now know the twin-turbocharged 5.2-liter Voodoo V8 delivers 723 hp and 650 lb-ft of twist - keep in mind that we're talking about the output at the wheels, so we're looking at well north of 800 horses here.

The flat-plane crank engine was gifted with hardware supplied by Precision Turbo. And while turbocharged motors are not exactly famous for their soundtracks, we have to admit we're eager to check out the newfound voice of the GT350R.

The numbers mentioned above have been achieved with a boost pressure of 9 psi, while the usual supporting mods that accompany such a forced induction process include upgraded injectors and a lowered compression ratio.

For the sake of comparison, we'll mention the 5.0-liter Coyote motor, which obviously sat at the base of the Voodoo development, can deliver about 650 hp at the wheels when gifted with 9 psi of boost.

Since we're talking about such a special build, we should get our hands on more info on this suck-squeeze-bang-blow topic soon. And now that the gates of sacriledge have been opened, we expect to see more TT projects using the Shelby GT350 as a starting point.

I was a Ford Mustang owner for 18 years. 1998 GT that I bought new (had it 16 years put 150,000 miles on it), and a 2014 GT Premium that I got rid of to buy my SLK. I will admit the 98 was a good car , no problems, lots of mods , ran like scalded dog. It was time to get rid of her and move on so being how I couldn't afford new SLK 55 (what I wanted, good thing i couldn't) I bought new 2014 GT. 420 HP was very appealing to me, however after having the car less than a year it got boring very quick. Sucked the hell out of gas and everything was still made cheap (over 60% parts made in China). The suspension sucked (still had uncoated solid rear axle design), the tranny sucked, the ride sucked, the stereo sucked, the wheels sucked, it just sucked period. $40,000 plus car (only thing going for it was the engine), I was going through a ride crisis when I bought it and yes it was a huge mistake as it devalued like $10,000 in less than 2 years and I only put 4400 miles on it:| Even the hopped up Shelby versions are all lacking in tranny and suspension technology (once again nothing going for it but engine). Its ALL just cheap cheap cheap, why spend that amount of money on cheap just to have overkill in horsepower thats basically gonna put you in a ditch due to a lack of suspension technology and handling characteristics to match (already happening, seen two on the news) Needless to say I'm done with Ford and ALL other recall specialist car manufacturers and from this point on its " The Best Or Nothing". Nothing rides or drives better than Mercedes IMO and I'll bet money I can smoke that new 420 HP V8 Mustang GT Premium I had (17 MPG) with my used 2012 SLK 350 V6 with only 302 HP (30 MPG). Didn't mean to come in here and bash the thread, just my opinion of Ford and all other American car manufacturers. I hope like hell someone don't have the nerve to come in this Mercedes forum bragging about Chevy or GM, it would probably bring out my worst and there would certainly be "trouble brewing">:D

Looks like a plumbers nightmare. I'd bet it couldn't make a dozen passes without something breaking.
Its not surprising to me that they have gotten very sloppy with all the plumbing and wiring. My 98 was way cleaner and the 2014 was somewhat aesthetically pleasing, shame on Ford and this is a Shelby.
