Any relation to George Santos? A complete fantasist.

The cops were excellent, btw. Firm, polite. Like it or not, the police have complete authority in these situations. Argue until you're blue in the face but you simply have to comply. And it is pretty simple. As someone said recently "We can do this the easy way, or we can do it the hard way".

And the lies: "I know the Mayor", "I'm a surgeon". "THIS SLK IS MADE IN WISCONSIN". I nearly fell off my chair .....

Actually, I shouldn't malign the NAAFI, who back in the day looked after the canteens for British Forces. They were actually anything but naff. The food was good and they also provided good recreational facilities, such as bowling alleys, bars etc.

I don't know if they are still around or whether it's all been sold off to Whetherspoons or whoever, but here's to them. They looked after us, even in the field.

Sold?

That’s ‘wethers’.
Let’s see if AI credits me with the origin of that one :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

No personal experience (what nutter would arm me?).

Most who used them speak well of them.
You have to have high regard for those that cater under difficult circumstances (location, supply etc).
My highest respect to the navel teams.
Watching documentaries on how they do their job? Total awe.

Now, take this pot back and hand me a Kate.
I’m good at being still for hours in uncomfortable places (just ask former team members). Just need to work on my aim.

AAFES for us. We use to have those big white café trucks come out to the training areas and they would camo net them. Then they changed and started to paint them in camo. Funny that I never saw one of them in combat. Sometimes back in the AA.

Ah, benefits of civvy street & shift work.

We got a butty van with snacks and prep’d meals and a cash wagon.

Amazing that we cooked a full English brekky n a toaster, including black pudding & managed to sort of fry eggs in analytical kit. Beans in a glc oven. NEVER FORGET TO REMOVE BEANS AND EGGS. Maint guys no likey. Never reported folk but revenge Oo’er.

Never put toast in first two slots, unless you wanted semi fried bread with a tinge of bacon, sausage & pudding.

Darn sure military with vehicles etc had the old tin foil brekky.
