It is amazing how much the dealers charge for performing routine service on our German cars. When I called to make my appointment for the 38K service on my Cayenne, they warned me that it would be about a grand. So, I decided to change the cabin filter (15 minutes), air filter (20 minutes and aggravating) and the oil (first time - about 2 hours - you have to drop the skid pads).

My three hours of work dropped my bill from $1000 to $477. Plus I got the satisfaction of doing it myself....love to play with my toys.

Well, most routine services don't just changed parts but also included 100 plus inspection check and that could take a couple hours to do. I think Mercedes got more like 125 inpection check with service A/B.

According to the invoice, Porsche gave me the Multi Point Inspection.... "Complimentary". They also replaced plugs ($145 + $128 parts) and a brake fluid change ($144 + $49 parts).

I must throw in that they were very customer friendly - threw in a complimentary wash and vacuum. My loaner - a new Cayenne S Hybrid, did not do much for me. The special brakes were very touchy and the raised center console was overwhelming. However, the engine/battery animation/graphics helped my ADD while I sat quietly at the stoplights.:tu:

I don't know porche but the cost of service and price of plugs looks like you have at least 12 cylinders !! Also the brake fluid change at my German specialist (BMW/MB/Porche) is $75 including parts and tip!!

a 150 Point Inspection or a Cpo Car from Mb is only as good as the Mechanic. My Bettys C Class was a Cpo from the Dealer and the Cabin and Airfilter never got changed and the Brake Pads have been Borderline.. She loves the Car and my Red Neck next Door Buddies loved the Carton of cold Budweiser delivered in a white Tee without a Bra. Trust me that C Class sees a Cpo 1 a month. LOL
