Good day!

it would be great to meet you and check out your car!

The MB Kansas City club is a member of the MB Club of America (MBCA). Their webpage is: https://www.mbca.org

When you join the MBCA, you become a member of the local chapter.

Yes, the Kansas City group does have a FB page. Search for MBCA Kansas City on FB.

Or https://www.facebook.com/kcmbca/?epa=SEARCH_BOX

Come by on Sunday the 21st and meet up with us. Or join us for our Third Saturday breakfast at Perkins Restaurant on 87th in Lenexa on July 20 at 9 a.m. That is another way to meet some of the group.

Registration for the car show has been extend to 18 July.

v/r Jeff

I guess my old Benzes have not been up to the Judges Standards.:grin: I can confirm that there shows are a lot of fun as long as you do not talk to the Porsche and BMW Members you get the competition Stinky Eye from all 3 Sides..... at least that,s how it was 20+ years ago.:laugh:

I am attending to talk with others and look at some very nice older cars. La Bête isn't in the running for any award... :frown:

I will be checking out the Brit cars. I belonged to the All British Car and Cycle Club when I drove my Jag. My Number 2 son and I won their first Road Rally in my XK150.

The Show

After the club breakfast yesterday morning, the remainder of Saturday earmarked for prepping La Bête for the car show on Sunday. Hot, muggy day; mid-90sºF. No rain in the forecast. Sunday was supposed to be cooler, but the weather report stated that the cold front was slowing down and now it wouldn’t arrive until after 1700 on Sunday. Okay, plan for a very hot, humid day on Sunday.

If you have ever seen the movie ‘The Wizard of Oz’, that was the treatment given to La Bête that afternoon. Washing, waxing, buffing, vacuuming, glass cleaning, the works a la the Emerald City. I finished making the display boards, as I have learned over the years that the public like to read things and look at pictures. It makes the experience more interesting for them than just seeing cars with no information.

I was hot and exhausted. Two G&Ts with dinner, which was fresh fruit and melons wrapped in prosciutto. A cool, light meal. Watched ‘Midsommer Murders’ (why anyone would chose to live there is baffling. Same goes for living in Cabot Cove) and then to bed.

Arturo woke me up at 0500 by pulling on my beard.

“What is wrong Arty? Is Timmy trapped in a well?”

Then I heard it. That light trapping on the vent covers….

Rain…..

What the heck (or something to that effect). I got up (I had no choice as Arturo was ready for first breakfast) to see the damage.

A nice, steady rain. Good for the gardens and the yard, but not good for the car show. Checked the weather station, rain until 0800-0900. I had to arrive at the staging area at 0800. Pack extra microfiber cloths. Top up when driving to the event.

How many car owners would bail on the event? When I arrived at the staging area, nine of out of our twelve club cars were present. La Bête made ten. Not bad.

We moved to the show area and many more cars were arriving. The rain had stopped and the ground was already drying out.

It was a nice day, Still quite humid, but mid 80sºF. Many cars and a lot of public out to see them. Not as many older cars as I would have liked, but the Auston Healey club had a great turn-out. Only one XK Jag, a XK140 OTS. A beautiful car, but my least favorite of the XK series.

One other SLK, a 1999 230.

As I suspected/planned, the fitted luggage for La Bête drew people in to ask about the car. The public always enjoy learning about the extra bits of the cars on display. Next year I will have the tool set and the first aid kit out with a display board.

A few pictures from the event. Overall I would guess about 120 cars.

It was a good time. Did some recruiting for the club.

Two vehicles that caught my eye. Of course, one was the XK140. A beautiful car.

The other was a GMC cab over truck with hot rod. What a great looking set-up. I love seeing these types of vehicles at shows.

Nice, I normally do about 20 to 25 car shows per season, I've only done about 4 this year as I have been busy with other things. But I have gotten 3 awards this year. Thought I'd drive more, show less. I enjoy the shows, but they are time consuming. But, I do love to talk! :)
