I've seen another C230 AMG down in Miami, not green though..

I must admit I laughed hard when I read the thread title !

Saw a new red C 350 AMG where I live. My guess is a c350 with amg body accessories? Looked new, hope the dealer didn't badge it that way.

Well I guess if we transpose this example to bigger items:

It's like painting 747-400 on the side of a Boeing 737... just because it looks cool. =) ohh and the airline would charge a premium for that.

I do believe this is deceiving from the MB dealership, and it should be stopped by the corporate offices... what would be the lure of a real AMG if any other one has the logo, but not the muscle?

Anyways, one more show on how the MB brand is slipping to mass marketing.

I don't know about that one. I drove into our MB dealers service lane in Nashville and they still didn't give me the light of day. I got out of the car and looked around and not a soul came up to ask if I needed anything. I eventually found my way to the Parts Department, (nice people btw) got what I needed and had to wait 30 minutes for someone to move an S class out of my way so I could leave. This dealer has 4 lanes and they were all full. :(

Another day I took a friend there who was looking at the new Z4. I wanted him to look at all his options before dropping 50-60k on a vehicle. I pulled up the the sales side in my 55 and still couldn't get any attention. I told my friend, "I guess this means your destined for the BMW." BTW they (BMW dealer) greated us as soon as we pulled up and from time to time checked on us to see if we needed anything (soda, water, test drive).

This happens to other brands too - I'm sure people with Mustangs put decals or badges like "Saleen" or "Cobra" ad Camaros might put the "SS" badge on a non-SS. I've seen many fake BMW M's as well, mostly 3 ad 5 series badged with a M logo on the trunk lid.

Obviously the people who do this have no idea what a real AMG looks like, they are not fooling any of the knowledgeable people out there.

I was at my indy a few months back getting something done, I forget... and this guy pulls in with a pre-facelift SLK230, "AMG", non-sport (with the black band that goes round the bottom of the car).

I see the badge and was about to walk up to him and ask, "Why do you put an AMG badge on a non-AMG car? There's absolutely nothing on your car that is AMG" but right before I reached him, I saw his GF get out of the passenger side, and I felt bad embarrassing him and calling him out in front of his girl like that, so I bit my lip.

I personally can spot a fake AMG from miles away, and I have trained my GF to spot them too, she sends me pics from her phone of every fake she spots. (im so proud of her).

I have taught her to look for quad exhausts (except for the 32 series), body kit, ride height, front quarterpanel badging, rear trunk lid spoiler, front bumper design, wheels, and if possible, dash guage front seat badgings.

What makes me laugh and cry at the same time is those posers who put the AMG badge on the trunk lid, but don't bother to make it the same height as the badge on the other side... Talk about drawing a fake ID with a crayon.

:biglaugh:Can't say I've ever been given the cold shoulder from my local MB dealers, even when walking the lot. Just as bad as to be hounded by every sales person when just looking. If I'm seriously looking, I always state to the sales person my sincere interest and I'm not out to waste their time.
