I have changed the instrument cluster in my slk r170 with a used one because of a faulty fuel gauge in the previous cluster.
The 'new' one is identical and has solved the fuel gauge problem but there are a couple of issues that bother me.The engine temperature was always a little above 80 C say 83 - 88 C. Now it goes (when in heavy traffic) to 90-97 C which the previous never did. Do you think it's the cluster or a coincidence?
Second i had 160000 khm and the ''new'' instrument's odometer is 200000 khm.
Any thought's about this issues will be a big help because at least the engine temperature is a sensitive case for me as for the majority of the drivers.

Is any coding/mating required for the R170 instrument cluster, when replaced or exchanged?
