I have hooked up my Samsung s6 to the car and have spoken on the phone over the car system but more often it has not worked.
I get this message,

What do I need to do? (Tel av means Phone off)

Reboot did not help but I think I found a clue.
When I turn of the stereo the phone won't connect.
Is it supposed to work only when stereo is on?

That is because you have the facelift R171. The link Jeff provided is for pre-FL R171. You will search in vain for the components mentioned in that doc.
Your radio has bluetooth from factory. If you have paired your phone with HU and it sometimes fails to connect you have either a problem with your phone or the bluetooth receiver in the HU. There should be a bluetooth antenna on the back of the HU I think. Check that first.

Well, the problem with "sometimes not connecting" was because I did not understand that the HU needs to be turned on for the phone to contact it.
The problem now is how to connect the microphone in the car. Maybe I should start a new thread for that question?

Thanks for the explanation (facelift), now I understand why the description don't match the car.

Mic should be in the overhead console as Jeff said. That is the same for FL and pre-FL.

I guess You are right about the mic is in the overhead console.
What I wonder is how do I activate it.
I just had an idea!
Might it be a setting, just as coming home lights and stuff?
I have turned off a low light that came on every time I unlocked the car and I have seen were the running daylights are set.

More to do tomorrow!
