Hi guys,

Just had the TCU software updated on my R171 SLK55, was just wondering what it does? I've not driven the car yet as the ECU is out of the car with Kleemann for a tune.

Anyone knows what are the benefits of this software update to the gearbox?

Thanks folks.

Attention:
As of MY 2004, transmission control module will incorporate SCN coding (Software calibration number) SCN code will need to be entered using SDS / DAS after every software update Failure to enter the SCN code after software update may result in "engine not starting"
Tip: Ensure SCN coding is available before programming control module!

another:

There is definitely at least one TCU update for the 722.9. It smooths the 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts, plus it keeps the 2-1 downshift from occurring until the car has stopped (which helps with a seemingly harsh or clunky downshift when slowing).

I don't know if it matters but shouldn't the user ID and password
on the top of the lap top screen be removed ??
It doesn't matter but I've edited the image just to be safe - thanks for that :)

The Weistec pan will be getting fitted at the end of the month, doubt it will make a noticeable difference but at least it looks cool, hehe. :)

Anyway, ever since I've had this new TCU updated the gearbox is so much nicer, this is what I noticed since the new software update.

1-Noticeably smoother up/down shifts
2-Holds onto gears for so long in S mode right on the redline and the car is holding gear, I love it!
3- Gearbox now engages 7th bellow 60- 55mph, before it never wanted to engage 7th gear till after 70mph.

Just generally the box feels like it knows what you want 99% of the time!

Defiantly worth the update, my car is a late 2007, I'd highly recommend it guys.

Took the SLK55 to PCS my local MB specialist this morning to have my Weistec transmission sump fitted.

Some pictures

Fitted!

Apart from looking good, you'll probably won't notice any difference but can't do any harm - fresh oil/filter.

This Weistec sump makes the MB sump look tacky!

Magnets are added to the pan to retain fine metal parts.
Cheers, thought so.
Yes the Weistec sump defiantly has 2 magnets.
