My car is stuck in limp mode, cannot figure out why, will not shift out of first, only goes 25mphs, just had the transmission rebuilt 6 months ago, took it to the shop a few weeks ago they checked the solenoids, wiring harness and tcm, they said the tcm would fix the problem, so they put it in, and it didn't fix the problem, I took it to another shop and they said something about the transmission conductor plate [something about the ground] being the issue causing the wires to have too many ohms, They're supposed to be at 6ohms and some of my wires are at 7 and 8ohms , i'm throwing only one code, on the old TCM and on the new one i'm throwing about 15 codes, the new shop I took it to specializes in european cars, they said the codes would not clear on the new one, I took them the only one it is throwing a code that basically says something is wrong with one of the gears, which it throws it without the car even being in gear as soon as I turn it on, I really don't know what to do, I keep wasting money on different parts and each shop says the other one doesn't think the other one knows what the problem is.

1998 Mercedes SLK230
Upgraded to 1999 SLK230 Transmission
722.6 Transmission Automatic.

::Changed TCM:: [Could still be faulty]
::Solenoids are good::

Yep... you need a better shop. I'm not sure about your variant of the 722 transmission but 722.9's have a common failure with the input shaft sensor, which renders the TCU unable to make any decisions about which gear to select. Did any of your previous shops share any diagnostic codes or other information?

If you took it to a regular independant shop, versus the dealership.. that's apples to oranges. The dealership will/should be able to stop the endless replacement nonsense.

And while we're on the subject, since youve paid for all of these repairs and have gone back to the shop-are you saying that they are not warrantying their work and refuse to diagnose further? You have wasted enough time and money on the other shops. Just take it to the dealership.
