Stubby Ariel for SLK R171 AMG

5851 Views 20 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Delucas
Hi everyone,

I have tried a few aftermarket ones (amazon, ebay etc...) but none seem to fit and/or work well. Is there a genuine stubby that will fit and work that I can buy somewhere?

I've searched the forum and there are so many reviews etc....

Does MB do one?

part number in our threads.
Antennas ? SLKStore.com

still looking for the part number for you
oh and please please please update your model year in your profile for us?

Vehicle: SLK 55 AMG

2004/5-2011?

First please update your vehicle (year?: 1996-2016) in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information if you haven’t. This takes about 30 seconds to do.
Follow exactly to update: ‘Usercp’ at the top of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘vehicle’. Info in your garage does not update your profile.
You mean stubby like this or less stubby like this ?
The last one is original MB, do a search here with facelift antenna and you'll find the partnr.
The first one is from the SL and it needs an extra antenna in the rear bumper. You will not get thta easily fixed on the SLK, without it reception is poor.
i think he wants the middle one. not the mini or the midi

Ahh,now I've learned something again! Didn't know there was a middle one. So that's the one from the R170? Does it fit a R171? And how's reception?

I had that on my previous 2005 sk 350 and had no issues with reception or smarttop rf range.
Thx!
Tnen I guess I'll have to order one! :)

goes on real quick. use a towel wrapped around old to remove. you should have an antenna tool in your car

but if not, just pliers :D

He wants a good Spanking, that's what He wants......
They may not work too well, the R171 Stubby does reduce the Remote distance.

Well ive had both stumpy sl
And rubber midi .

Both are not great reception .
Midi being the best .

Midi remote distance i did not have a problem with but stumpy was just as good but not to great .
Besides who wants to lock there car from 200 ft away

I kept the sl stumpy purley for looks .
Reception radio well who cares i got my phone for radio / music / millions of stations etc

Ahh now thats a diff matter
The R170 "shorty" antenna (5 inch) needs to be modified first to improve the range of remote key.
