:soap:Where do you guys park your slk in the store parking lot? I used to park far away all by myself only to find it surronded by cars when I came out even though several spots were open closer to the store. I now park anywhere making sure to check for scratches prior to leaving. God help the one who scratches my baby :biglaugh: I dont park diagonal or take up multiple spots as I feel it invites a scratch from someone. Is it me? Am I just paranoid or does anyone else feel like people are just out to scratch your car because of spite or jealousy? I dont flaunt my ride but I do work hard for it and deserve to be able to drive it in public without risk of above average risk of dents and scratches from non caring jerks
Thank for your replies:rockon:

I park it in end spots away from row entries so folks don't clip it turning in and only one side is exposed to idiots, i can put it far over in the space without getting close to another car so they would have to really fling a door open to smack it.

x3, and my mate always kids me as I take my time looking for a good place to park. Or I may drop her off and stay with the vehicle and read a book or surf with iPhone.

Same here. I always find end spots or corners. There are times if I'm with my wife that I would drop her off first before I start looking for spots, cause it could take a while before I find one. I've only had the car for a few months, but so far it's always worked out for me. I would never park diagonally and/or take two spaces.

I wonder after a few more months if I'd still limit myself to corners. I've started keeping a mental list of which establishments I frequent that actually provides a decent amount of space in between cars even mid-row.

We never take it to the store and park. Even if we are just going to run in real fast for ice, one runs in and the other stays in the car.

We had a new 4 runner get scratched by a key after it was only a week old, parked at the market. So now we take the old car if we are going to park anywere.

I am with Dan, I park at the end mostly close to a curb, make sure my rims are real close to the curb so the average motorist can park in and open the doors without slamming my car.

Both my wife and I park far away - regardless of which car we're driving. She had too many dings and a few hits and gave up complaining about the walk many years ago. I usually park with people that have similar car-preservation goals or find they are parking with me. I've just got too much time and money invested and the walk is good.

I park anywhere honestly, I'll just accept whatever comes. There's no way of knowing who is gonna park on your sides, or what cars. Also parking next to to other expensive cars don't make much of a difference, sometimes the people with the best cars are the ones that throw their doors open. If I can fin a corner space I'll take it, but I mostly park anywhere.

I used to drive a Ford Cougar (Mercury Cougar to our American viewers) and at the time of its original release it was the longest production car in England. These days there are lots of 4x4s and people carriers that trump it.

I used to have a nightmare finding a place to park it, not just because it was so long but because UK parking spaces are tiny.

I was allays careful to park away from other cars and pick my space, until one day coming out of Tesco I noticed someone had managed to scratch the top of the boot (trunk) ... and to be honest, if you cant keep people from scratching a horizontal surface, what's the point...

I find the SLK much better to park since its smaller but I do try and keep away from cars that look like they have kids in them.

I think this is by some people parked next to you and had used your trunk as a temporary place to set down the heavy box or whatever they are carrying as they needed to free up their hands in order to open his/her own trunk and in the process scratched your car's trunk or hood from that heavy box they had set down.

In America...............I find many people who just have a TOTAL DISREGARD FOR OTHER PEOPLE'S PROPERTY.........especially their own car is a piece of crap and yours and mine.....very nice SLK's or whatever. Maybe some of these people think that they should deserve the same type of car, but they can't. Therefore, if they can't why should you or I? I just hate this type of mentality.

I usually park in corner spots far away from the entrance. Never park near trees, lamp posts, or shopping cart storage areas.

I park at end spots as far out as I can. i also make sure there are no shopping carts close around. Or, I try to park next to a Corvette or similar car. I figure the owner is as paranoid as I am. I also don't park downwind of shopping carts when on a slope. I incurred several hundred dollars worth of damage years ago after the wind blew a cart against my car.
