I posted this a few days ago and have received a reply so I'm guessing I didn't post at all, so here goes. Is the steering box adjusting screw and locking nut assessable from the top, bottom or side please, and is it easiy to get at and how do I get at it.

Thanks for the link Top, it helped elimate a train of thought about getting to it through the side. On a 97 Slk r/h drive There is NO access into the engine bay. After a few hours on the hoist, the conclusion is. The adjusting nut and screw are located on top of the steering box under the manifold cover and under the heat shield. The heat shield does not come out easily, in fact I gave up trying. I even looked at cutting a hole in the heat shield above the adjusting screw but then you have you remove the manifold shield. In conclusion " whoever designed this layout must have been having a hate the world day". So I will put up with the free play and I will see if the wheel Alignment man can do some magic to compensate for it.
