Started off the new car show season, was curious how the stripes would play out in a show. I was pretty happy with the opinions of the folks who know the car, people I have been showing with these past 3+ seasons. They all thought it broke up the big white side that didn't offer much. It also sort of hides the rocker panel fender lines that show so much on a light color car. A couple of people said it looks more "racy" now. Most on the facebook R171 group seemed to like it, although one said it's a Mercedes, not a Mustang. I expected a few of those, and I can see that. The stripes are growing on me, and the car seemed to attract even more attention coming across town than normal. There's a few more shows between now and the 1 May track day, it will be interesting. The first show drew a lot of cars, took a top 40 favorite plaque, didn't expect it as there were many classic, antiques, and off body resto's there. So I'm happy. Everyone's been chomping at the bit to get outside and the sun finally did come out and make it a nice day. Not really so much into awards this year, after 35 the past 3 years, but having more fun at the shows, becoming a car fan again. But number 36 is now in the books. Wish I could make the big Arthritis show this year, but it conflicts with an out of state reunion that I really have to attend. But, there are tons of other shows, just not as big.

By the way, interesting photo last night, the Stripes kind of go away in the darker lighting, kind of surprised me.

I like the look.

Stripes always start a debate, always will.

The blue suits.

I wonder though?

The first shot gets a shadow reflection along the skirts.
Makes it look like there is a much lighter blue stripe there.
The only thing is that it extends the length of the car.
I'm not sure the main set would work the entire length, if you added a lighter blue 'shadow' on the skirt.

Good luck in the shows.

LOL, It's actually Silver Metallic, the first picture I used a filter on. It has a bit of a flake/sparkle in it, but it's hard to pic up unless the sun hits it just right. I like that it makes the car a bit "longer", I heard that remark too. I really wanted the lettering/numbers to be full height of the middle stripe, but it would have distorted the font and eliminated the front section of the middle stripe as that area isn't real big. I would have preferred that look as opposed to the postage stamp, but over all, I'm happy with it. The setup like on a ford gt side stripe is how I would have preferred the lettering (stripes) to be, but I wanted the lettering/numbers on the front fender. Mentally, I'm finding myself already wondering why it wasn't there already, it seems fairly natural to me. Thanks, just like when I went to the 19 inch chrome wheels, not everyone was on board, but all the opinions are valued. We have such a great group of people here.

Another thing I noted, on a white car (ie: the Dawg), you don't notice the flaring of the fenders down the lower sides. The car just appears flat. For the first time since I've had it, I noticed the flaring of the fenders and how the lettering/stripes had to follow it in the front and back fenders. From the side angles, it really calls attention to the flare that is there. Just never really saw or paid attention to it. The white generally just washes it out. I've spent hundreds of hours with the car at shows, looking and talking about the car, and never noticed the flare extending down much from the top.

Did the second show of the season, the car pulled well again. Lots of remarks about how "racy" it looks. This show was one that I don't frequent, so the folks weren't familiar with the car. Lots of cars, over 125 roughly, very good quality, kind of shocked me as there were a lot of off body restorations there, plus a lot of well kept and new cars. Can't complain. It was a Auto Smarts show sponsored by Napa and they provided free food and drinks (softdrinks). Not a bad deal. Happy with how the car looks and is performing at the shows so far. Track day is now under 3 weeks! Decided after putting on the windshield banner, I'm going to forgo any further graphics even though I have more.

Boy do I wish! Only way I'd do it is to ship the car and fly down. Both of those costs a decent amount of money. Would be fun, and I'd love to attend though! Just have to wait and see, that's a ways away. Wife independent, I'd say yes, but LOL, I'm still married! I don't have a car that can trailer the Dawg unfortunately. Just hate to put that big of miles on the car, that's about a 1,000 miles each way, sure it would be a nice trip though.

A couple of picture from this past Saturday's car show, Dawg earned it 43 award over the past 3.5 seasons. Weather has limited the shows for me this season along with the track days. Notice the stick on the back of my helmet, giving love to the SLKWorld.com. I keep getting surprised by all the people who love the leather color in the car. Wasn't sure I liked it when I bought the car nearly 4 years ago.
