Just installed the Sprint Booster gen 2.
WOW,what a difference!

The car is SO much nicer to drive even in (C) mode.

It really feels like a remap(I know it does not increase power) but it feels like it:grin:

I have only driven in the green mode so far and tbh I think I will leave it on that setting!

What is the red mode like?
I love this mod.

Mine is always in green mode most of the time. I forgot once when in red mode and mashed the throttle, shot off like a nutter, oopsie.

I can believe that:laugh:

Do you ever drive with it off anymore? (silly question)

Congratulations on your install. I also installed the SprintBooster a couple of weeks ago and am pretty happy with it. I agree it really does make a difference with a more responsive driving experience. After playing around with it for a while I keep on green almost exclusively. So much so that I think I'll disconnect the switch so I don't have to deal with running the wire and mounting the switch.

The only thing in my experience is the throttle is a bit twitchy when in Sport mode and the SprintBooster set to green. And it gets downright nasty with red and Sport. Entertaining at first but quickly tiresome, at least for me.

On a side note, when I first installed the SprintBooster I just ran the wire along the floor mat and left the switch between the seat and console. Then the throttle started to get crazy and the car would keep lurching unexpectedly. I thought I had a faulty unit until I realized the button was being pressed due to being squeezed between the seat and console as I was driving! :surprise:

So the lesson is to make sure you're careful with the switch! I felt so dumb when I realized what was happening but thankful it wasn't a bad unit.

One the greatest little performance updates available. Easy to install and immediate better response, even if there are no extra horses it feels like there are. Got one on my R172 too.

(Shameless plug: got one left over from my R171, laying around ... PM me!)

I freaking Love and Hate this forum so much!!

Why make me want to buy this for? Why? Btw.. what are some feedback on this mod? Really that big of difference?

When I drive in economy mode I feel that sluggishness, however when I turn on sport its better but still delayed.. Does this mod just improves that delay? Also does it cause any extra fuel consumption in the long run?

Cheers,

It changes the response to the throttle. In three steps you can make it react faster on what you do on the paddle. The thing itself is just some electronics that is a five minute install. It doesn't influence the consumption directly but because of the driver having that more pleasure, consumption does have the tendency to go up. You can also switch it off, that way the difference will be even more noticeable. I never switch mine off (again).

Thanks. Looks like I will pull a little steeper into my pocket for this.

It does feel like a different car for sure. I've got the DTE Pedalbox variant installed in my (wife's) 200 R172. Same thing I believe.

This is probably just "placebo",... according to the experts (who have not tried it), but it sure feels good. I would not drive another inch without it :)

Anythow, I do recommend re-setting the adaptive transmission after this install when you have your favorite setting figured out, do it in all modes, i.e. C. E. S. etc. This makes good things even better!

Well, actually they have tried, tested and measured it. And their findings were the same as yours. It changes pedal "feel", and that's about all it does. Don't get me wrong, if you like it and think it's worth the money, by all means buy one!
But don't claim that someone who critizes this gizmo did not try/tested it.
And that's the last I'll have to say about this subject, let everyone decide for himself.
Amen.

Pedal Commander throttle controller - Much more versatile than sprint booster or DTE pedalbox IMO. Has 4 settings with 8 curves per setting. Currently on Sport + plus 1. Car takes off like a rocket. No issues so far except for wife getting nervous when she hears engine growl during acceleration. Ordered from PedalCommander.com - Great company to deal with plus 5 star topnotch customer service. Am aware these pedal controllers are controversial with some members - did a lot a reading b4 ordering, and was skeptical at first. However, After one month of use, I consider this to be the best and easiest mod to do short of an ecu tune. Company has a good return policy in case you do not like item. Have used item in stop and go driving, freeway use and car handles great. Try it and your driving life will never be the same.

Read with great interest the pdf review of the sprint booster - essentially stating that mashing your foot down with great speed and force will equal the effects of the sprint booster and other throttle controllers - The review appears to be highly scientific, logical and well laid out. EXCEPT the so called scientific logic differs vastly vs the actual user experience. Do we believe the scientific measure logic or do we give credence to the actual user experience.

This scientific logic is the same rational used to prove that your 2 cent zip wire is equivalent to the $600.00 or more speaker cables. One listen and unless you are deaf, will prove the superiority of these expensive speaker cables and interconnects vs you 2 cent zip wire. This is also the same argument used in stating that since CD players are linear and measure extremely well, they all should sound the same. WRONG AGAIN. Listen to a $2,000 or 5,000 or $20,000 CD player vs your $200.00 cd player and you will soon realize that this argument is patently false.

Anyone who has ever listened to a high end turntable will tell you without question that they beat the pants off even the most expensive CD players. Even the Nakamichi Dragon tape recorder, with its stunning silence between tracks, is so superior to those cheap cd players, that one has to be deaf to NOT hear the difference.

According to this same scientific logic, speakers that measure the same, should sound the same - So a $200.00 speaker should sound the same or sound close to a top of the line $10,000 or $20,000 dollar speaker system - NOW the scientific logic really becomes a joke. If one cannot hear the difference between a set of radio shack speakers vs a Martin logan or Willson Watt or a $10,000 Apogee Diva - then it is time to stuff the scientific BS in your ears.

Can't tell the difference between your $300.00 to $500.00 Sansui, pioneer or sanyo amplifiers vs a Krell $20.000.00 amp or high end tube amps - then maybe, just maybe, you really cannot tell the difference between a Hyundai and an SLK 55 AMG - scientific logic dictates that in some or most respects, they measure the same - they all have 4 tires, they all have headlights - they both will do 100 + MPH, so why buy an SLK when according to scientific logic, they function almost the same, so, Its just a waste of money, so the argument goes. This is the slippery slope that the scientific logic and measurements will bring you to.

I have been an Audio enthusiast since 1975. I have progressed from owning japanese speakers to high end speakers (Apogee Diva). Same thing with high end amps and interconnects and turntables with $1.000.00 cartridges and speaker cable and CD players and Tube Amps using very expensive NOS tubes, and without any doubt, can hear the differences between different tubes and amps.

So, for the scientific logic followers, my advice is to just buy the cheapest tires on the market, cheapest cars, cheapest tools, cheapest service stations, cheapest gas, cheapest clothes, jewelry, cheapest food, cause according to measurements, they all should measure about the same. Sorry for the rant.
