Sold my car and the new owner wanted the original audio equipment so I kept this.

Please make sure this is correct for your car as it took Halfords three go’s to get the correct kit and the person did seem to really know his stuff.

The kit is to fit a double din headunit and technically is plug and play but you have to undo lots of bits to plug it all in. On mine, with the radio out, behind it was the power plug and the fibre optic connection. Then at the right of the drivers seat (rhd Uk car), was the can bus connector for the steering wheel controls then lastly in the passenger footwell the aerial lead was plugged in to the connector at what I assume is the amp.

Of course, with it fitted, if you have the merc Bluetooth, sat nat and multichanger these do not play through the upgraded head unit but do stay plugged in to keep the fibre optic loop.
I have the pioneer apple play head unit so sat nav and Bluetooth worked through this all very well(the head unit isn’t included in this price, it’s just the fitting kit. )

This cost me over £300 without the head unit. Looking for £150 inc Uk postage/payment by bank transfer or PayPal gift. (Or collection from rugby eve or weekend.)

If I can give any more info to help you confirm if it’s correct for your car please ask.

In no particular order

1. For sale threads are not editable by the poster. If you need a change made, please contact a moderator.
2, Thread should include price, pictures, contact info like email address. Try to not post a phone number. If you have less than 15 posts, you won't be able to reply by pm as newbies won't be able to pm the seller either since they also probably have less than the required 15 posts to do so.
3. Why are threads uneditable? In case of a dispute, the seller cannot go back and say something was X when it was Y, because the seller changed it in his favor.
4. Seller, please post a reply informing us that it sold when someone buys it. Saves folks trawling for parts, only to find that they have gone. Thanks.

Can you give more details?

You mention fibre optic link. Does this include a module that takes the line out from a new head unit and convert it to the MOST fibre system on the car.

I have NTG-1 with MOST fibre connection and thinking of swapping for a quality head unit.

Hi Peter
In the back of the head unit are two fibre optic ‘bits’ in the plug. These two parts are plugged into another module (that is with this kit) then the normal wired audio from your new head unit feeds this module which somehow through witchcraft converts it to a fibre optic feed to go to the amp (I think that’s the bit in the passenger footwell) and you get the sound.

I bought it as I wanted Bluetooth Audio and didn’t expect an improvement over the oe sound as it was still the same amp however the pioneer headunit and this kit did improve it a lot. Also, while the amp worked as before, even if you have the Bluetooth and sat nav from merc, these do not work through your new head unit but do stay plugged in to keep the fibre optic loop.
Does this help at all as I found it confusing to say the least. Shame your not closer as you could have had a look/tried it in your car as fitting is easy once you know all the locations you need to get to.

Ps it’s not really witchcraft, just electrical magic.
