San Diego area meet up at 9am at the Fry's Electronics parking lot off of the 15 Freeway. That should give us plenty of time to roll in and set up.

Here is the address: 9825 Stonecrest Blvd., San Diego, CA 92123
This place is best since its practically an exit away from Qualcomm Stadium.

OC Caravan will arrive here around 9:30-9:45 and everyone will roll to the stadium together...

We are bringing out the grill to socaleuro and inviting you to barbecue with us. We will be providing burgers, hotdogs and drinks. Please feel free to bring more food from main dishes, to sides and desserts. We want to make sure we have enough food for everyone, so this is potluck.

Here is what's covered:
1. burgers, buns
2. cheese slices
3. ketchup
4. mustard
5. hotdogs, buns
6. water, drinks
7. paper plates, napkins

Please feel free to bring more of what's already on the list plus whatever you want.

We are only able to bring 1 grill, 1 table and 2 ez-ups. We would like to have more of each, so if you can provide one for the day that would be great. Please let us know.

Also dont forget to bring your own chairs...

Thanks...

Yeah, I was planning to go to the Fry's meet-up. I'm of two minds on this. Last year it took quite a long time to enter the venue once we started moving because it was absolutely logjammed at the entrance. This year they are charging admission so the logjam will probably be even worse with having to change money, etc, etc. I was thinking about going very early (like just after 9am) but then I'd have no clue where you guys are gonna be :D.

EDIT: Oh wait, so I just RSVP-ed on socaleuro.com and now it says the event is free? I could've sworn it said it was $10 before. Oh well, even better :D.

Awesome day today @ the Big SoCal Euro!!! A slight chance of rain has been predicted but nothing materialized. Instead it was a perfect day with plenty of sunshine, good clouds for picture taking, and tons and tons of cars.

Here's the initial meetup spot @ Fry's Electronics when a good deal of the Mercedes folks had just rolled in.

Oblig nose shot at the Fry's meet-up.

Settings up at the event itself. The MBjunkies forum had cordoned off a very nice area close to the "official event" i.e. the sponsored part, and set up multiple canopies and barbecue grills. I think we had around 30 cars at the height of it with people coming and going. Quite a nice Mercedes turn-out for an event that is otherwise almost entirely devoid of the brand.

Kim and Chris doing last-minute touch-ups on their respective cars.

The old and the new. The one on the right is a bagged 1968 280SEL.

Right after we parked I spotted these wheels and now I'm seriously crushing on them. Unfortunately I learned that while this is how they come from Eurosports in terms of the color scheme, they only make them in 20". Now thinking about refinishing my OEM set of AMG-IVs which look exactly like these except in 18".

If there were two things that stuck out this year was marked lack of exotics, and absolute overabundance of Audo R8s. Here's part of a group of 6 that rolled in. But I'd say in total there were at least 20 of them at the show if not more.

Here's a close-up of one of those Audis, which had a matte black finish. This was my wife's favorite car of the entire show I think.

A picture for Berliner Heckflosse. A souped up Fiat and a Betty :D.

Here are ACG representing. These guys are a local San Diego shop that does all routine maintenance and repair work on Mercedes cars using certified techs.

One more R8, this time in racing guise.

Forum user Jason ("LynxFX") who recently sold his SLK and bought a brand-spanking TT-RS. Very nice car!!!

While at the show Jason spoke to the guys at EuroTune about getting a Stage 1 ECU tune done on his new toy, and they did it right there at the show, so he enjoyed significantly increased horse power on the way home :D.

Lotus Evora with an Elise.

Crossing something off the bucketlist that you didn't even know was on it: Chocolate-Covered Bacon, from one of the many food trucks at the event.

One of the few exotics at the event, a Lamborghini Murcielago. I think a lot of the folks with the really high-end toys were scared off by the erroneous predictions of rain in the forecast.

One final shot of part of the MBjunkies group. Thanks for organizing the Mercedes meet-up of the event. Without you guys the MB representation would've been almost non-existent. As it is we were able to make it slightly less about VWs :D.

Roland, let me know if you want the larger versions of these pictures. I can drop them on an FTP.

And finally, an overview of the entire event. No idea how many cars there were but last year was about 2000 and this year was probably about the same. A really great event, and I hope they keep it in San Diego for next year!!

Nice pics Durk!

Boy the ride home sure was a fun one. Not only did the stage I tune add more kick, but I got to play with that black R8 GT that was at the show. :)
