Have noticed when holding the brake pedal for say 20 seconds, if that whilst queuing at roundabout or lights - I start to smell that cooked brake type smell that you get when you've given some beans and you've worked the brake hard (not on the 55 I might add). The car was warming up when this happened last night.

I put the car in 'P' now if standing for anything longer than 20 seconds, but I was literally waiting at a roundabout and this happened..

Any ideas? The pads are 6 months old but on original disks - car has done 52K.

Thanks..

Thanks, I know the breather case or whatever it is is seeping so could be that going on to the exhaust - hadn't though of that, thanks. Curious as to why it's only when I've depressed the brake though.

Check the fluid reservior - it may have a small leak, and you have brake fluid escaping onto a hot surface (or it could be anywhere else in the system, but possibly near something hot ....)
