Ok, tried to search for this and couldn't find anything, mostly because it may be a stupid question. I am looking to buy the smarttop for my car, and when I go to the slk store it has the smarttop, and right on top of it there is the "add a circuit" thing. I started wondering if I needed that, I figure I don't, but then I thought it was a good idea to ask you guys before ordering anything.

Also, I am going to wire in my valentine 1 radar detector, and figured since I would be doing the smarttop as well, probably good to get them both at the same time. Are there any good places to attach the radar detector's wiring in the area I am going to expose for the smarttop? Or is there a better place to wire it into?

you don't need the add a circuit but it does make things easier finding the 'hot' wire. i did not use it but others swear by it

Where are going to mount the detector? I you are using a visor mount you might be able to use the mirror mount light. See below.

Add-a-fuse for the SmartTop is a no-brainer in my mind - if you are stateside, you are just going to make your life a *lot* easier using it.

On the V1 - I've always tapped at the aux power adapter in the passenger footwell, since I wanted power only when the car was ON, not all the time. Little to no advantage to an add-a-circuit there. If you are going to to a visor mount, the OCP has a switched power supply for the garage door opener, and you can tap there as well. My 9500ci control module is in the passenger footwell, so was easier to go for the aux power...

I was planning on mounting it to the windshield, up by the mirror. I am not so fond of using those light cables, don't really care for the looks of the wires coming out of the roof. I think I will try using the aux power.

What exactly does the add a circuit do for you?

Well worth having Saves any cutting and splicing of harness wires. I have two One runs my front parking sensor off the under hood fuseboard. the other runs my phone power cable off the dashboard fuseboard

Ok, looks like I will go ahead and get the add a circuit. I'm all for anything that makes a job easier. ;)
