This is the second time I have noticed a departure from the direct correlation between displacement and number, and I believe the first article also had to do with AMG. Maybe with electric cars and hybrids they are decoupling things. It will be interesting to see. The engineer in me is saddened by the loss.

MB do this all the time..

The C200, E200, SLK200 and SLK 250 have 1.8 Litre engines
The SLK 280 has a 3.0 Litre engine
The E350 CDI has a 3.0 Litre

etc....

Numbers have to be better than silly names as per VW Sharan ( sharon) Toureg ( towrag) And dont even mention Mitsubishis Pajero Ask any spanish speaker what that means :biglaugh:

Perhaps the idea is that it's comparable to a N/A engine of approximately that cylinder capacity? They'll probably never get rid of the 65 designation for the largest SL AMG, no matter how small the engine gets.

This A-Class at 360 horses, sure sounds like it could be a lot of fun in such a tiny car.
