That's brake porn, baby!
Do I want to even know how much that will cost?

For comparison, I believe the Brembo big brake kit for the R170 runs $3200 for the set according to the Brembo website, hardware only. Don't know if it's the same size rotors/calipers or not as the 55's.

Direct bolt on. Only needed to modify dust shield and add spacers for the stock front wheels.

For all 4 corners installed it was a tick under 5k, this included new sensors, parking brake shoe, and stainless lines. That brembo price you quoted is only the front...

Do all the AMG 63's have the same brakes as the slk55? And when you do a brake upgrade can you do only the fronts and leave the rear stock? I have an 02 SLK32 with 17" wheels will it be a direct bolt onto the front tires for me also? The reason I'm asking only about the fronts is because a local person is selling the front rotors, pads, and I think the calipers as well for a pretty good price.

Only the CLK63 will fit. It's a shame since the C63 brakes come up all the time for cheap. You will also need minimum of 18" wheels up front. You could do just the front, but the brake bias would be off which could cause some dangerous hard braking.

Those are large brakes. You would have to up the wheel size to 18" min. 19" would be better.
Fronts will clear 18". I'd stick 18" all around as the back look small with 19".

Ceramic Rotors?
Of course.

5K Why, I cannot find anything wrong with the brakes fitted (stock) to warrant paying 5K for what is basically a cosmetic modification is beyond me. If you want a AMG then buy a AMG don't attempt to make the car look like one

How is this a cosmetic modification? most people will barely notice, but there will be a huge difference in terms of brake fade and wear at the track.

If you are a serious track participant then yes I would agree with your argument.

I mentioned cosmetic being so used to seeing motors of all descriptions being fitted with such to make the car look beefy. You read so many posts in various forums like

'When he pulled up at the lights looked across and seen my Brembo's'

that you tend to assume that people install such kit to thier vehicles without really needing it.

Interchangeable Parts

From what Mercedes can I use the brakes and rotors for my 02 SLK32 without changing my 17" rims? The reason I'm asking is because I want to stay with OEM but the dealer wants ~$550 for the pads and rotors so I'm looking on eBay and want to know if I could buy rotors/pads from another Mercedes which are the same as for the SLK32. Thanks for any input.
