Hi folks,

Had my first break down the other day, which was a bit disappointing.
It appears that the alternator has failed or hopefully the much cheaper voltage regulator.
Does anyone have any similar experience?
The car is 8 years old but has only done 48,000 kms.
Other forums suggest that the basic mechanical part of the alternator is bullet proof but the regulator is very fragile.
It also appears that alternators are currently unavailable in Australia with Bosch not being able to supply one before April.
Anyway the motor trade has shut down for Xmas and my car is out of action for while which is even more frustrating.
Anyway is there anyone with experience relating to this issue.

Thanks Dave

I replaced my voltage regulator with a new Bosch unit. Easy to do from the underside of the car. I posted about it so do a search for more details.
