SLK350 R171 floor pan repair

Hi Folks,
I have 2006 SLK350. The other day I went over a rock or bump(didn't notice) and later I looked under the car and found that a small piece of the black floor pan is chipped away. It is close to the front jack rubber on drivers side. The side skirt is not damaged. Only a piece of the black floor pan next to the rubber for the jack is missing.
I am kind of hesitant to spend $390 for new pan. I was thinking is it possible to close the hole with a piece of plastic or fiberglass? Something that I can do myself. DIY?
Any help is highly appreciated.

Is there an actual hole in the floor or has the undercoating chipped off of the floor? If it is as I assume, the undercoating, then just spray some more "3M rubberized "undercoating on it and call it done.

Thank you Guys for your replies.
It's an actual hole. I found a cheap replacement cover and I am buying it. It sells for $68. At this price it's not worth the hassle to repair it.
Happy New Year!

Do you mind posting some photos of the before and after repair? Perhaps a short DIY photo write up? this will be helpful to add to the library pf DIY 's.

Thank you in advance
I don't think the OP made a "repair". It appears that he simply replaced the "holed" fiber reinforced plastic underbody panel which is likely to be part No.1 in this attachment.

When I received the email notification about new post on my thread, I clicked by accident on the link to unsubscribe.
How I subscribe back? When I clicked on the link to unsubscribe, it just did it. It didn't ask me as normally other sites would do"do you really want to unsubscribe?" or so? I will try to take pictures when the parts arrive and will post it with a short DIY.

I have just changed one on my 350 and there cheap, I paid less than £40 for it new from MB parts, its been redesigned as well and has a new part number, all I can see different are some drill holes at the rear to let water out.
