I don't know if I am doing this correctly:

My SLK 2012 at 13225 miles purchased Mercedes Certified on 2015 a had run only 400 miles, the day before yesterday was working perfectly then did not start at all in my garage, try both key replace battery check main battery with Mercedes MB mbrace no help. All work like radio etc.. but no position one or two of the key lathing up or starting, no indication of shift position dead as dead.

After towing the car to Mercedes I was told that" In the steering column there is relay that tell to block the column something like that.

Since you all have a lot of experience you think is a <faulty anti-theft system that don't recognize the key etc..> Do you think is something systematic that has happen before, do you think is going to happen again in the middle of no were!
Thank you,
Franco 0:)

I have also had this problem intermittently. Sometimes if I re-lock the car and then unlock it again, that solves the problem. Waiting a little longer with the key in the "2" position sometimes helps. Sometimes I have to play with the key a little bit. It always starts, eventually. Once the car is warm, it doesn't seem to happen. I have an slk280 with 28k on the clock.

Thank you for the welcome is very kind of you.

There is an update about my car SLK 350 2012, with 13225 mi
"So my car was in garage unable to start new battery, lights, radio work etc. I had it towed to the dealer and found out its the steering wheel lock."

I was told that since the car is under warranty I had saved $1100.00 dollars (Big Deal!!!) and what about me losing one day of my life try to figure out how to release the Electric parking brake & Mercedes Tech wasn't able, the towing was almost impossible.
How Mercedes built a lousy cheap part on a $70000.00 dollars car "that is dishonest" I had lost any trust in this company specially when they brag about the reliability of their electric / Electronic parts which I always believe was the truth.
So of course they want to make extra money this is NOT where you do that is ASININE get stuck in the middle of no where in a suburb / ghetto and maybe lose your life.
Since the number of steering locks that fail for what I have explored is a large number we do something about it, what you people think!
Thank you,
Franco

Just had my ignition switch changed the other week after it locked. Was about to try heating it when all of a sudden it started working again. A sunny morning had the cabin nice and toasty. Coincidence? A very very common fault.:crying:
