Hi All

Just got a 32 AMG to keep my 200 company.

Boy is it quick, it has been mapped with a pulley upgrade giving 400bhp plus.

It needs the heated seats sorting and rusty arch lips which I am doing at the moment.

I think it is brilliant silver as the sticker in the door shut has 744 on it.

I just bought some brilliant silver and it is darker than what is on the car.

So now I have to find out why, the paint I have already bought might not have been mixed right or maybe the car is not brilliant silver.

The investigation begins.

Mine is going in for arches, boot lid and bonnet lip tomorrow.
Obsidian black though.

Can't see your 200 getting much use!

There is a 3 digit numeric paint code that is on the same metal plaque as your VIN# inside your driver's side door jamb.
Brilliant Silver should be 744.

There's a possibility it could be another shade of grey/silver. As you are in the UK, you most likely had more color choices than the U.S. had in the R170.

Use this site to check:

Mercedes-Benz Paint Codes

If the color code checks out correctly and you can verify that the touch-up paint is in fact labeled as the same color, but ends up being darker, then there is a remote possibility that it was mixed wrong, I suppose.

Are you using Mercedes' own touch-up paint or a third party?

The other possibility is that the car had been repainted without your knowledge.

Hope this helps.

Enjoy your 32!
