Welcome! You might also try the Crossfire forum (SRT6). Those folks are MOD crazy!

There are many, and I mean MANY, little things that could be causing the lack of response you cited. Others, with more smarts, will chime in I'm sure.

The ECU and TCU have an adaptive learning algorithm that may need to be reset. This is true especially in the way the car shifts when you are NOT redlining it. If the previous owner tended to have a soft foot, the car has adapted its shifting patterns accordingly.

Throttle position reset might also be a good idea. I had problems with my TPS sending confusing data to the ECU. If you do the reset and it seems okay BUT later falls back into a poor pattern, you might want to data log your TP percentage. Mine would jump around even when I was not changing input at the pedal. Replaced the TPS (pedal assembly) and all was right with the world.

There are also myriad modifications to improve performance including
  • Upgrade IC pump
  • Isolating the IC from the engine cooling system
  • Oil catch can (not really performance, but a good idea)
  • Cold air intake
  • ECU and/or TCU tune
  • Crank and/or SC pulley upgrades
  • Various methods of reducing IAT
  • Intake and exhaust upgrades
  • Dropping a V8 into it
etc, etc, etc

I'm pretty new to SLK32 ownership so remember, YMMV.
