I don’t think it would be a mistake and the differences will be minimal whilst saving a lot on the purchase price.

Lots of examples around as you say but not many fully loaded ones. Intelligent light system is a rare option on both SLK and SLC and would definitely be on my wish list if I was in the market for one. But sure pick which your personal must have options are and hopefully you’ll find one that fits the bill. Getting the options and a colour combo you want will make things even harder.

Road tax on the 9 speed SLK (yes there are some 2015/16 models) and the SLC is a lower road tax band, £30 IIRC.

Thanks, all.

So the 250d SLC is a lower road tax than the 250d SLK despite both being diesel?
Correct, with the caveat that it’s 2015/2016 registered or if newer wasn’t over 40k list price. This because the government changed the tax from to charge you more if the car was over that price for the first 2 or 3 years I think it is!? 🤔

I checked regarding the U.K. road tax changes. From March 2017 if the list price was over 40k before discounts then you are hit with an extra £325 per year from the second time you tax it for 5 years. 😬

Just seen a 2014 SLK - road tax is £150 even though earlier posts say it should be £30. Help me out here and I'll trot off to test drive :)
That will be the 7 speed transmission version. Some not all 2015 spec cars are 9 speed and have ad blue etc they are the ones with £30 road tax. From 2017 if the list price was over £40K the £325 supplement would apply on top of the £30 for the first 5 years.

When you look at ads look at the shifter. If it has a regular gear knob it's 7 speed and will be £150 tax. If it has the stubby SLC gear selector then it's 9 speed and will be £30 tax for 2015 and 2016 cars. From 2017 if it's over £40K list it will get hit by the tax hike! Simples! :ROFLMAO:
