Finances have dictated that £18-£20k on a 2017 SLC 250d is not viable right now so am looking at £12-£13k on a 2013/2014 SLK and found some very nice options and low mileage (for some reason, all SLK/SLC I see have low mileage).
My idea is to buy one and if I like it, trade it in for an SLC in a year's time, and if I don't, sell it and pay off the finance. My question to you is: is this a wise move or is there no comparison between a 6 yr-old SLK and a 3 yr old SLC?
SLC-wise, I've been wanting one with all the buttons (no missing or blank ones): air scarf, parktronic with parking guidance etc and, ideally, folding mirrors (though this is rare to find). Even rarer is HK and memory seats. And I can get most of my 'essential' list in an SLK.
From my end, the only difference between the SLK/SLC models I've been viewing is:
1) a blank button where the dynamic assist should be (but then again, the SLCs with the Dynamic Assist button may not have had the Dynamic Assistance package to make it worth its while)
2) A smaller infotainment screen.
3) The SLC hood operates at a faster speed but this can be overcome with a roof4mods - which I was going to get even if I bought an SLC.
4) 7 speed automatic instead of a 9 speed - is there that much of a difference in drive, ride and performance?
So does it make sense or am I heading for a fall- either being unable to sell the SLK next year or by slumming it in an SLK compared to an SLC?
