Hi All

BSAMAN here - I own a 2003 SLK Kompressor Auto
It has been sitting ide since October last year and the battery was flat - after charging said battery and put it into vehicle side & indicator lamps started to flash - vehicle had ignition lights but would not turn engine over - after connecting a Delphi Computer to the vehicle it came up with a crank sensor fault which was cleared - the vehicle now starts and runs however when I turn the ignition off I can remove the keys and the engine is still running - I have disconnected the battery earth lead and the vehicle still runs - has anybody out there experienced something like this before and if so what was the fix
Many thanks BSAMAN

Not a clue, but someone on here will know.

Afraid it's the waiting game until they arrive.

Welcome from the Wirral.

That's pretty amazing... I think I would start by re flowing the solder on the K40 PCB. I don't know how the logic works to turn the car on and off, so I'm guessing.

Battery disconnected and still running

Hi,

Battery disconnected and still running !! -

Battery is only there to store electricity - alternator is turning and supplying power to the ignition system.

I suggest you put key in ignition and turn it as you would to start it. That should stall it.
OR
Put on a pair of rubber gloves and pull the spark plug leads.

Agree probably K40 is probably the root of the problem.
