I see a lot of SRS issues discussed on this forum but cannot find a solution to my problem. I really would welcome some support. So, the SRS light has been on solid in my SLK for the last number of months. It seemed to be triggered by me vacuuming under the seats. I have checked connections under the seats and found no issues. I have removed both seats, checked the wiring for obvious damage, cleaned both ends of the yellow connection block and cable-tied the plugs back in place to be sure of a secure fit, yet light remains on. My scan tool (Foxwell NT650 Elite) is showing two separate codes:
9223 The resistance in the ignition circuit containing component R12/9 (Driver side airbag ignition squib) is too high.
9003 The supply voltage to the control module is too low.
In relation to 9223 using a wiring diagram I found on the internet (which relates to a left hand drive car) I have traced component R12/9 to the unit at the rear base of the passenger seat in my right hand drive car.
In relation to 9003 my vehicle battery reads 13.4 volts at rest and 12.4 volts with the ignition turned to position two (with all the computers for ABS etc running).

- Can anyone confirm that the component in the attached photo is component R12/9
- How can I test the resistance of this unit?
- Can anyone advise why I might be getting a low voltage in the control module error message?
- Is it possible that 9223 is a result of the low voltage reported in 9003?
- Can anyone advise where exactly this ‘control module’ is fitted in the vehicle?
- My scan tool is unable to clear these codes or extinguish the SRS light. Is it possible an alternative scan tool may clear these codes or will I have to visit a main dealer to avail a DAS computer?
