I have (today) purchased a 2006 SLK 55 AMG in Silver (R171). The interior drivers side door's leather is what looks like cracking and no longer has a smooth surface (as though it had been hit with something). Once the door is closed it can't be seen as the seat removes visibility of it.

It's the classic red and grey combo. Does anyone know if it can be ironed (by a professional) to flatten it, or is there somewhere I can go to replace the red damaged section?

And finally does Merc sell the red interior paint? I may go to an interior specialist.

Pic to follow (picking up the car on Tuesday evening - UK time)

thanks for your help

@Purpleerkal: Hi and welcome from the UK Midlands! :)

There was another thread recently where @bac (Brian), one of the other forum members, painted some of the interior trim and seats of his SLK. Im not sure whether Brian can offer any suggestions or advice to you, but I guess he may comment here if he can, now that I've mentioned him.

Either way, I've had my 2005 SLK 55 AMG for just 1 month now, and I'm loving it... I'm sure you will too! :)

Yep, I did some repainting of my seats, but my circumstances were a little bit different. I didn't have any damage to the surface of the leather and I was just using a new colour of my choice, not trying to match up to an existing Mercedes colour.

I can recommend the product I used (Angelus) but they don't do Mercedes colours so you'd either have to paint the whole thing or find somewhere that can colour match for you.

Cheers,
Brian
