Hello to all,

As i promised i am posting few photos of my interior project.

Full leather dashboard and door panels with red stitching.

The seats were OEM made of fabric and come from the R172. We convert them to leather with the new type AMG chrome logo in their back and the exact AMG design.

The whole project were runed by Rellas Art (Rellas.gr), here in Athens GR.

I wraped on my own the seatbelt inserts with gloss carbon fiber vinyl such as decorated trims in dash, gearbox trim and door handles. I have also put the new style steering wheel from W205 AMG. Further info here: http://www.slkworld.com/general-mod...205-steering-wheel-swap-r171.html#post2537618

There are few mods exist such as the conversion of the OEM gear knob into leather with AMG logo and the boost gauge in dashboard.

I hope you like it.

Gorgeous, what a transformation! 172 seats are a straight swap?

Oh that is gorgeous! I know what I could spend my next 1.000€ on: full leather wrap!!
How much was the new steering wheel and was it a straight swap? It really updates the interior!

Yes its a "plug and play" project. The only fault that appears is passengers SRS occupancy and it needs a bypass module that can be easily found on eBay for 50 bucks , but my electronic engineer fixed it without it and everything is like it was previously.

Around 700 bucks on eBay complete with airbag.
You can find the steering wheel swap thread in my first post. It is not plug and play. It is completely different and it needs many electronic mechanic and aesthetic modifications in order to fit.

Love it! The red stitching looks very classy. Is that a clock on top of the dash? Would you mind giving me some details about where you got it and the install? Your mods are very impressive!

The wiring I imagined, but the fit I hoped to be doable. Anyway, congratulations, it looks stunning!

100% +!!
I shudder at the cost of all that quality!
So where is all the talk of 'no one doing any hard work in Greece' coming from, or was this mod just a little project before breakfast..

Check out Sean's thread to give you more of an idea of what the steering wheel entails, I did it and absolutely love the outcome, well worth the trouble:

Nice job on the steering wheel, and the seats look great.

I figured they'd fit in mechanically, but not having had hands on I thought a little tinkering may be needed with the electricals, but it seems not!

Now to find a black electric AMG set with air scarf...!

Thanks for sharing

I think it would be tricky to make electric seats with airscarf work with the R171 central head unit. Mind that R172 electric seats have their switches at the door panel.

Thank you for your kind words.
It s not a clock. It is a boost gauge. My car has no kompressor any more because it was replaced with a turbocharger. You can see additional info here:
http://www.slkworld.com/performance-mods-r171/201217-slk-200-r171-turbo-project.html I will update this thread soon because i have made many further modifications such as forged engine pistons and rods e.t.c.

You can find the gauge thread i had made last summer here: http://www.slkworld.com/slk-r171-class-diy/263818-custom-boost-gauge-pod-dash.html

I checked the wiring diagrams for the seats a while back .. I can make them work with R171 switches ...!

Absolutely beautiful work!

For a long time I was deliberating between the SL55 and SLK55, and one of the major variables in favor of the SL was its leather interior work, which felt far more similar to the car it was replacing when compared to the SLK55. Ultimately, other factors won out and I decided in favor of the SLK55, figuring maybe I'd just spend the money to go with a full leather dash and console. I think your car sets a standard and provides a example/prototype for those of us considering something similar.

Cheers,
CGS
