SLK Book

Hi everyone,

some of you might know that I write books about Mercedes cars. My latest book/books will cover all three SLK variations and will be published on amazon in December. In this respect I have one question to you, as your opinion is important to me:

Is it for you better to have each version of SLK (R170, R171 and R172) covered in a separate book or would you prefer (as I have done with my two SL books) to have them all featured in a single book.

If they would be covered separately, each book will have around 180 pages and would cost around $30. If I would put them into one book, this book will have around 450 to 500 pages (it has fewer pages per version, as some parts of the book such as the history of the roof for example and other stuff does not have to be repeated three times). This book will cost probably around $50.

Each book will cover with small variations the following topics:

Here the example of the r171 book:
SLK200 Kompressor, SLK280/300, SLK350,
SLK55 AMG R171 (2004 - 2011)

Hi Bernd,

Whilst I can see the benefit of having all three variants in one book, my personal preference would be for a book in detail about the car I actually own.

Good luck with the Comand & Options sections! :D

Looks like I have myself a Christmas gift to buy after all.

I think the progression in a 3 book SLK series would be a nice coffee table addition to my new home [wink].

Each model deserves it's own book. I certainly want the 170's to have their own space cover to cover.

Thank you very much for your kind input, gents. You have been of great help!!

As it looks from your answers, the majority wants to have separate books, so that's the way I'll have them printed. I hope that you guys, who wanted it all in one, will understand.

Btw, the books will also come out as e-books. But from my other books I know that most people prefer to have (at least, when it comes to a car book) a printed version.

If you allow me, I'll let you know, when the books will be out. Thanks again, Bernd

Also am in favor of 1 book, specifically interested in the R171. Looking forward to the release and the write up about the 2Look Special Edition. :D

Bernd, I noticed that only the R170 book is listed as a paperback; the other two are e-books. My personal preference is always for a printed copy regardless of cost difference (you can't display e-books in a library room!). When will the R171 and R172 volumes be printed?

Excellent news to have these books printed. By the way the book on the R170 from Brian Long has still not been released. It was supposed to be released last month.

Due the price difference between US and Europe I will order mine when in Florida in February. Nice reading for the pool.

It probably will, at that! I remember a time years ago, babysitting a nephew of mine who was two or three months old at the time. I cradled him reading from a history book on the operations of the US Tank Destroyer battalions in WW2. It's not the topic, it's the sound of the voice and the sense of security and comfort.

Congratulations on the soon-to-be-delivered new addition!
