Hi people
I'm bit of a forum ghost but I thought I'd share my little bit of experience on my replacement front brake pads for the slk 55 amg.

So spent a lot of time researching replacement front pads, EBC looked like a good option but I had nothing but bad experiences, and i didn't want to pay dealer prices for oem pads, looked on euro car parts and they had some pagid pads which was a brand that recognized. pagid seemed to have a good write up on the Internet.

I fitted them yesterday and only done 50 miles, still applying gentle braking as still breaking them in but so far brake dust seams to be less and braking bite is progressively getting better.
I will give more of a review once I've completed a couple hundred miles.

so far I've done 100miles braking bite is as good as the oem, and the brake dust looks to be lower.

Hi All

@ owerr1 how many miles have your disks done they look like my old one before I swap them out , I think the min thickness is about 28mm. I replace my front pads about 6 months ago (OEM) all was good until the brake started to fade away ,At the time I had new pads front & rear & new disks on the rears so it could only be the front disks ,Replaced front disks with Tar.ox rotor only kept the centres all that braking power came back .

Cheers

Hi Andy

my car has done 62k mile, if you look closely I've ground the disc lips off and punched the holes clear of brake dust. I measured the disc thickness and there were roughly 29mm.
my partner she was struggling with the brakes as there was a lot sharper than before with the new pads.
I'll need new discs when these pads wear out, with the Tar.ox discs, did you re-use the bolts?

thanks, regards Rich
