Bought these for D15KOE today, already done the Boost Set when I did the Radiator and I/C ;)

When fitted that will be every single Engine Hose pro actively replaced, and I'll have a complete set of good spares :D
I will also fit a new OEM Thermostat unit at the same time (y)

Also have a Low Coolant Alarm kit to fit as well as a box full of other stuff already bought and yet to fit ;)

what I gotta do now is to just drive it and only repair it when something falls off it, rather than do my usual full restoration on it 🤣
What pillock said that /\ /\ /\ ...........................

The all completed necessary repairs, pro active replacements for reliability and maintenance etc came in at a tadger over £3k, so the expected final total which includes all the nice to have add on options and upgrades will bring the final total to IRO £4800 .............................

Several Discovery Indies and buffs have confirmed he is worth significantly more than that :D

Mel doesn't look at my Accounts, she's not interested, it's my hobby / passion ;) .....................

Hang on a second, who stole who's facelift W212 AMG E Class Wagon for her DD ?
I only drive that once a week on average, I get an old 1999 TD5 Discovery for my DD ...................

But actually I do love driving it now it is spot on, can't wait until the new ECU is in and remapped actually :D :D :D

Oh btw, I now got to source another set of Blue Coolant Hoses, the EBay weigh anchor hasn't got them in stock, despite a gazillion ad's for Blue ones, so he informed me I could have Red ones now, or wait 4 weeks ....... Yeah right, that'll be 4 weeks ++++++++++++++ errrrrm refund me now you twit !! (He did) ;)

Oh the joys

ECU and some more Blue Silicone Hoses under the bonnet today, sadly the full Coolant Hose set is still stuck up a back passage somewhere :(

Pixels later :D

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH

There are some purported experts who are total xxxxxxx stupid xxxx xxxx xxxxstain morons

So I finish the 4 Wire Sensor Wiring and Plug, fit the Airbox Lid and 4 Wire Sensor, fit the ECU, then Program it to Immobiliser, set Injector Codings, Set Throttle Tracks and D15KOE fires up and Idles a treat ...................................

BUT !! ....

The Trans Lights are both flashing, Engine CEL on, no response from throttle  ....

In case you didn't get it, the "Expert" has updated the ECU he sold me with a Manual File, I didn't even ask him to do that, I thought I was just getting a good used Auto ECU for my £360

So now I gotta await his phone call after he speaks with gawd knows which other "Expert" and rings me back tomorrow, (or doesn't as the case may be) ...........................

Now I have to make a fly lead bodge to connect the original 3 wire AAP Sensor to my newly installed today 4 wire plug, swap back the Airbox Lid and 3 Wire Sensor, and refit the old MSB ECU, back to square 1

I wouldn't mind but I paid for this ECU almost 5 weeks ago and only got it a few days ago, (Friday last IIRC)

If I don't like what I hear tomorrow, or don't get a call he will be refunding me, I will now miss my remap on the 11th

I checked the AAP, AAT, MAF and Throttle Pedal (Driver Demand) Data and all are fine so my 1 extra wire is good, as are the new 4 wire AAP AIT, and Throttle Pot Sensors which are being shown as faulty by the "professionally screwed up" Motor ECU :( Ignore the A/C Faults, my D15KOE doesn't have A/C so they come as standard) :ROFLMAO:
Not photo'd but the TCU is showing "No CAN Comm with Engine ECU", yeah it is definitely not an Auto ECU  ....

There is 2 upsides to today .......................

2 more pretty blue MAF to Turbo and the Breather Silicone Hoses look good and didn't give me any issues 🤣 ....

And the Flip Out Screen Single DIN Android Head Unit arrived today, so guess what I'm fitting at the w/e :D ....

H/U ....

The Sub, TPMS, Reversing Cam and all the leads arrived yesterday ....

So, D15KOE is back running as he did on his old skool MSB ECU, but I'm really not happy, as I've had to make up a total bodge 3 Wire sensor to 4 wire Loom Plug out of stuff I had laying around, because having finish installed the 4 wire plug yesterday I am not gonna cut it off again, the wiring is perfect length etc now and I don't want it to have to be cut about ;)

So this is what I got for the forseeable, which I taped over the new plug to hold it all together and keep moisture out ....

I've just got back from a trip to Broadford then back to Kyle for a 32Gb SD Card to load my Music Files on for the impending D15KOE Android Install.

The ECU mug hasn't rung me back, I'm gonna blow a gasket soon, I have been very patient with this burke, but mind is now made up, he's getting it back and there will be consequences if I don't get a refund almost immediately :( This kind of chump business needs a wake up call :( He has upset the wrong bloke now etc etc.

I now need to find a good used NNN ECU from a decent breakers ..................... To Be Continued ....................

Very busy with work up to end of pre Xmas week, so I will do the Android install in 2 stages, Head Unit in first, set up with D15KOE's Steering Controls, Land Rover Boot Screen, D15KOE's picture as Desktop, Remote USB Socket in the Centre Console, Navi Antenna, SD Card Music and connected to D15KOE's 6 existing Door and Tweeter Speakers.

I picked up a 32Gb Micro SD Card whilst I was out today, and have just copied circa 2.4 Gb to it which is roughly 1200 tracks of my fave Car choons :D

Then hopefully before the New Year I'll get the cables all laid in for the Rev Cam and Sub Install and complete those plus fit TPMS Sensors in the Wheels and pair them to the Receiver, so yeah about 2 -3 days work in all to do a real nice job.

So Saturday I will start the phase 1 Install ;)

Range Rover big Service tomorrow :)

Good idea but it's not the Mapping that is the issue, it is firmware and or hardware incompatibility that is the problem.

The 11th is a Christmas function / meet up, of a few Highland buddies with D2's ;)
I can't swap ECU's, Air Box and Sensor in an icy / snowy / rainy hotel car park in clean clothes whilst everyone is gagging for food and drinks, nowhere near as easy as 2 minutes unclipping and plugging in an ME2.8 in an MB fuse box.

My buddy with the Maps can map it via OBD Port with Nanocom in 5 minutes flat which was the plan, but as it won't even drive outta the bloody workshop with that ECU so it would be impossible to even try to drive it roughly 65 miles to a hotel.

Not to mention that the minute I do that (remap) all warranty (180 days) is void ;)
I was supplied a used ECU at an expensive price by a specialist, which is why I paid a premium over EBay ECU fodder. This ECU was sold as plug and play once Immo teached in and Injectors Coded, Throttle learned. I did those procedures correctly as reported on my LR Lynx Legacy Diag Machine

1) ECU is not talking to TCU over CAN, ....Transmission warning lamps on dash flashing on and off
2) ECU has Throttle Pedal Codes despite reporting correct data on Throttle pots, won't rev off idle, CEL on.

Land Rover would not list different part numbers for Auto and Manual if the hardware / firmware was the same ....

There are 4 different ECU's for D2's, all look identical and have same wiring plugs

Early (10P) Engine Manual Trans MSB xxxxxx
Later (15P) Engine Manual Trans NNN cccccc

Early (10P) Engine Auto Trans MSB yyyyyy
Later (15P) Engine Auto Trans NNN dddddd

Never the twain shall meet or some things just don't work right ;)

An update on the D15KOE's NNN ECU saga ............

Suppose I gotta fess up 🤣 ..............

It seems that David has maybe, just perhaps, maybe, put his bloody great size 10 in his gob in post #2254 and subsequently 🙃 🙃 🙃 🙃 🙃:oops::oops::oops::oops:

All together now " 🎤🎤 David is a moron, David is a moron 🎤🎤"

I now think the ECU seller who is a 4x4 Specialist business, may well know his subject better than I do as a relative noob to Discovery 2's and their quirks !!
The seller now thinks I, as an MB specialist, may well know my (normal) CAN based Electronics 🤣

Turns out he uses 3rd party to install upgraded s/w and they do that re write for a good logical reason ....

I phoned him late last night, he answered my call out of hours, (I wouldn't have !!) .............

He has started to make sense, since I yelled at him on the phone and he yelled back, after about 10 mins of yelling we both realised that both of us knew what we were talking about and so we both apologised to each other and agreed to stop yelling and resolve the issue professionally ;)

:ROFLMAO: I am 59 years old and will never learn some skills :ROFLMAO:

He has assured me he will refund if I wish, as I bought the ECU with a proper Invoice stating 180 Day Warranty ......... I do believe he will.
That is one reason why I paid top dollar, having had a load of other [email protected] and rubbish after sales service off Fleabay etc lately ;)
Also, the NNN ECU's are only around £60 cheaper on the Fleamarket, and not many about on there ;)

What he says is this :-

He has double checked yesterday with his "ECU Guru" and whilst every "purported expert" forumite and his dog has been saying when using the combo of NNN and 2 Track Throttle Car you must set the ECU to 3 track throttle even though the car has 2 Track Pedal fitted, which am exactly wot I dun did .................... Everyone and his dog may possibly be right in their case, but they may be referring to manual Cars, I don't recall them actually specifying .................

The Auto Cars have a CAN Comm between Engine ECU and Transmission Controller, Manual Cars are, CAN wise, a stand alone Engine ECU !!
Unlike older Mercedes of the 1999 - 2004 era, like R170 etc etc, There is no other CAN Bus involvment in anything else on a Discovery 2 everything else is hard wired !!

To recap, I have 2 Issues :-

1) My Transmission Lights are flashing and the TCU reports a CAN Comm Error with ECU ....
2) My D15KOE starts and idles perfectly, but press the throttle and nothing at all happens, no RPM increase at all, plus the Engine ECU reports 2 Throttle Pedal Codes and the Engine CEL is on permanently.

D15KOE being Auto, the ECU Guru has staked his life on it and swears he definitely wrote the AUTO Files to an Auto ECU !!
Like me, he states he is not an eejit ......... Hmmmmm did I say like me  🤣

BUT !! , there is always a BUT !!, in this case the BUTT might just be me, coupled by my recent experiences, and a gap in my D2 Knowledge base, every day iz a skool day and all that jazz 🤣 ......

The ECU Guru says the Auto Car must be set to 2 Track Pedal if that's what's fitted to the Car ..............

I tried that twice, and both times, "Throttle Learn Failed" came up on Lynx Diag Machine ................
Then I try 3 Track learn and it came up "Throttle Learn Successful" ...................

So, ECU Guru says sometimes these quirky old skool ECU's do reject the re-learn he says you just gotta keep doing it until it sticks, sometimes up to 20 - 25 attempts .....................
ECU Seller says he's had this anomaly, usually he's never had one not 'take' after 5 to 6 goes ......................

As y'all know I am an impatient ass at times and gave up after 2 unsuccessful attempts, lesson learned (perhaps) :ROFLMAO:

I have agreed to find some time over the next few days to have another bash with this ECU by just unplugging the 3 wire AAP, yeah, yeah, I'll get Fault Code but they say it won't affect Throttle Relearn, then re fit this NNN ECU and I will sit there with the Lynx plus paper and pen and mark down ticks, up to 50 goes at Throttle Relearn to 2 Track .....................

If that works then I remove the hotch botch wire and refit the 4 Wire Sensor / Air Filter Box, jobs a good 'un !!
If that works I have saved all the hassle / time / Christmas post covid apocalypse P poor postal service delays by time taken posting it back, waiting for banks to process a refund, or perhaps giving them another shot, he says they have loads of Auto ECU's not so many Manuals, so no issue to send a couple more up for me to try.

He says they always re write them because when they break up most D2's many are un driveable and more importantly they don't have a clue who might have written what files into those 17 to 19 year old ECU's in the past ;)

Now, OK me now calmed down with my reasonable non angry head on, that all makes sense ....................

I have had personal experience of some other D2 Modules, (BCM for one) being a quirky asshat when programming, they can sometimes exhibit glitches, so yeah, I get it ............

He yells at me because most of his punters are clueless like some of the internet folks we here encounter, and I yell at him because I just want my naffin' D15KOE right, and in my defence I have had some awful experiences with other sellers lately ............

I think the guy has more patience than I do, I'd have likely told me to fu errrm go forth and multiply had the boot been on the other foot, guy obviously has more patience than I do ;)

Watch this space, updates soon :ROFLMAO:

Now, best go write my 100 lines for teacher :-

I must exhibit more patience when things go wrong :D
I must exhibit more patience when things go wrong :D
I must exhibit more patience when things go wrong :D
I must exhibit more patience when things go wrong :D
I must exhibit more patience when things go wrong :D
I must exhibit more patience when things go wrong :D
I must exhibit more patience when things go wrong :D
I must exhibit more patience when things go wrong :D
I must exhibit more patience when things go wrong :D
I must exhibit more patience when .............................

i wish we had copy and paste when I woz at skool :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I do like a bit of drama with my coffee
I did try and make it entertaining :ROFLMAO:

If it turns out they are right I will be sending him a Christmas box of some decent Red and a bottle of VSOP as that seems to be his tipple with his Xmas lunch ..............
To be fair we both had a right good chat and laugh after the initial rucking with each other ;)

If he's wrong and ECU is FUBAR, I feel way more confident they will sort it now, unlike the EBay LED Light Bar and the "Watts Linkage" specialist, plus a couple of others all within the last few months, who I had to get proper nasty with before they refunded money ;)

I just hope to hell and back all the Android kit works fine, hence I need to get the important bits in and tested this w/e ...........

The Light Bar and Watts were over EBay / Pay Pals 90 day limit for intervention, so I had to go all guns with them two eejits, couple that with the Mels Mum / Grandson / Bank incidents and a few other issues earlier this year wot I forgot about up until now and yeah, I'm fairly paranoid about the post apocalypse service I am getting these dayz, even our local factors and main stealers are causing untold grief ;)
