Hello,

Can anyone tell me what my problem might be?

...I will be driving along and then have no power, if I pull over, turn off the engine and turn it back on again, it will work fine.

...I will be at a red light, when it turns green, there is no power, and I have to turn off & on again for it to work fine.

...I will have my foot all the way down on the exelerator and the car is moving but at about 10 miles an hour and then kick in to about 30.

I have recently had a service on the car (£1,300.00) and they didn't mention any problems with the accelerator.

The car is an automatic W reg.
Before I go back to my mechanic...Any ideas? Is this normal?

Appreciate any help here.
Thank you
Sandy

Sandy, as part of the service, did they clean or replace the MAF? What did they do this service? Change the plugs and wires? Did you go to the dealer or a local indy? The reason I ask this is that the dealership will have a STAR system that can read all sorts of issues, the local indy will only be able to read engine and transmission issues.

Are you getting a CEL?
After you hit 30, does it accelerate normally?
Any backfiring?
If you accelerate using a light foot, not all the way to the floor, does it hesitate, does it get up to speed faster?
How many miles on the car?
Are you using high end gas? Premium with cleaners/additives in the gas?
Ever tried using a fuel injector cleaner?

John, if you want to provide the same info, we will help you work through it.

Haven't I seen these symptoms in other posts when the K40 needs resoldering or replacement?

Not been here long, so I may be misremembering some of the hundreds of threads I've looked at.

Does the 320 even have a K40?

Only if your indy doesn't have the equipment -- you should ask 'em.

Sandy, you really need to spend more time here! You've spent nearly £250 on a problem that could have been solved for around £50 I suspect!

Wow £1300 for a service! That hurts!
