I have 2012 slk 250 and haven't changed the original battery. Left it for 2 1/2 months due to a business out of the country. Came home yesterday and could not start the engine. When I put the key in, all the lights turn on at the console. When I start it, there is no cranking sound and the engine wouldn't come up.

Is it the battery or the alternator of the car?

I need help to find the battery location under the hook.

Thanks!

Hi, welcome from Barrhead, Scotland.

If you are leaving the car for long periods between drives a trickle charger keeps the battery topped up, but it sounds like it's time for a new battery.

Open the bonnet/hood.
Just in front of the windscreen you will see a large plastic funnel (it sits under the opening in the hood itself).
There are 3 tabs that turn 90 degrees and the cover/funnel lifts off.
Behold, the battery.

An SLK battery can discharge from full on just 3 weeks standing.
If you need to do this often have a look at our battery tender threads.

Welcome from just West of London, England :tu:

It's fairly normal for the SLK battery to go flat after 2.5 months, as may not even have been fully charged before You went away..?

The battery is located under a cover where the cabin air intake is - Should be 3 x thumb bolts

The way around the battery going flat as already said & to prolong the life of the car battery is to connect the car up to a CTEK (or similar) trickle charger. Here is a link to how I did a deluxe CTECK install on my R172.
