I would appreciate some guidance from someone. I have just bought an SLK 230 automatic first registered in 2000 and it has done 77,000 miles.

Everything is Ok with one exception.

When pulling away from stationary, sometimes there is no increase in revs for about two to three seconds and then the revs rise and the gearbox then behaves totally satisfactorily.

I have had the gearbox oil and filter changed because there was a suggestion that the gearbox filter might have been blocked. My view is that the gearbox is OK and the problem lies in the accelerator system.

Unfortunately I have not yet been able to acquire a workshop manual and I wondered if anyone could suggest what may be causing this intermittent problem

Your throttle is fly by wire....controlled by the computer. I heard that you have to reset something to get that response again. I never had that problem first hand, just remembered reading about it couple months ago. That could be your issue?

Is this a cold start up, then put the car in gear and drive away, or do you let the engine warm up.
the slk engine needs to warm up a little or it will resist shifting into higher gears.

my 2000 elk 230 compressor is overheating badly & it produces sound, what could be the problem the dealers I took it to they are telling me I need to get a new gearbox. What is your advice could it be the gearbox?

I have the same issue with my start off acceleration. I was told by members on here that it's a common issue and I should look into buying a performance enhancer called "Sprint Booster" or a "Power Converter". Looks to be about 400 bucks but people are really happy with them.

I also tried the tranny reset and had problem persisted but the shifting did get quicker once she got rolling.
