I have a 1998 SLK 230 with steering wheel airbag deployed. Replaced airbag, and sent the Airbag Control Module out to be reset. I was told by the company I sent it to that the module had a defective component and it was not usable. I bought a used one from a junkyard, but still have the SRS light on. The local Mercedes dealership told me that the modules were specific to the original vehicle. Is this true, or can I still use the replacement module and just have any faults reset? I seem to be getting a number of different opinions and not sure what the facts are. Also, is there anyway of resetting the module myself without having to go to dealer?
