What's the latest thoughts on where (in the UK) to go for Wheel Alignment?

MB Dealership insists that they are the only folk with the correct equipment but I've just been told that certain KwikFit outfits have a wonderful new machine that can do MB, Jaguars etc at half the cost.

Confused!!

Total rubbish

Its all about the equipment and the most important thing of all a tech who knows how to work it and get the best out of it .

So a 4 wheel alignment tracking system worth £10.000 !!

Aint worth nothing if the tech does not know what he is doing .

Any good 4 wheel alignment equipment will be able to get your car aligned up to a reasonable standard .

Here in Southern California, the dealer I go to have the 4 wheel alignment as a "fixed" menu item at standard cost of around USD $60. It may be a different business practice in the UK. Ask them for a print-out of the before and after alignment readings.

There is a thread on this forum with the specific numbers on the 4 wheel alignment albeit for the R171 SLK55.

After changing all 4 springs, 2 shock tops and fitting Bilstein shocks I took my SLK350 to a place in Atherstone called Centre Gravity.

They are suspension specialists mostly dealing with the set up of Porsches.

They are not cheap and will quote £350 for a full set up taking 4 hours, but now my car handles great, they even took some of the understeer out to give a more entertaining drive.

If you want an appointment expect to wait around six weeks for a half day slot.

I had 4 wheel alignment at MB Hull earlier in the year cost £72 and was well worth it. My trusted indie uses them too.

The way I looked at it was, I have spent a lot of money on the suspension, I may as well get it set up properly.

I have just about had the car 11 months and have spent around £4000 on it.

At the moment the car is in a body shop having the bumper sprayed and then they are going to mop the entire car.

Next is powder coating the wheels and new centre caps.
