Slight water dripping

Hi
Good day everyone.
I am new here.
Hope to get some help & info on my SLK 200 (171) year 2008.

On my SLK right hand top corner of the windscreen (the joint between the windscreen & the top), there is a slight water dripping on rainy day.
I check the drainage in the rubber strip (on the side of the windscreen pillar rubber strip), it is not blocked.

I compare both sides & it look identical and no damages at all.
The water drip is about one drip per second.
Could it be the top & the windscreen are not latched tightly??
How do I resolve this problem?

Another item I would like to know if anyone have installed the
mods4cars-smartTOP??
It is a device to enable to open & close the top when car is on the move.
Can anyone give info on this device, does it works & is it good & any info will be great.

Thank you & have a nice day.

ps: I attached a pic. I use some flour applied on to it to get a clear pic & when closed & opened, the flour marking is still the same.

I have the smart top next on my long list of mods. As to the leak, it has happened twice since I've owned the car. Both times I started opening the top, just a couple inches, then reclosed. Problem solved. I also Gummi phledge all roof rubber 4-5x a year. I think you leak is probably a roof seating issue...

Hi
Good day.
Thank you all for the all info on the water drip problem.

I have check on all suggestions but I think I have found the problem but don't know to to resolve it.

I just taken some pictures, please view it probably then you will understand the problem & help me to resolve.

Pictures are taken from inside the car.
Pictures 1 & 2 are the right hand side
Pictures 3 & 4 are the left hand side

It show the gap between the roof & the front windscreen.

It is the right side that has water dripping & the gap is bigger than the left side.

Does anyone know how to reduce the gap & is it because of the latch on the right side not tighten enough?
Can it be adjusted??

Another thing is, when I shine a torchlight onto it from the top of the roof, I saw some faint light when inside the car, right hand side.
But not on the left hand side.

Anyway solution is greatly appreciated.

Thank you & have a nice day.

Hi
Good day
Coolrunnings.
I took your suggestion seriously & seriously all the while I believe it was the gap between the roof & windscreen that causes the leak.

First I went to the local DIY to get a set of Torx driver for about USD3.50

Then I remove the visor.
The pries open plastic cover.
From then I can see the 10mm nuts on both sides of the latch.

I loosen it by a turn (the one on the left side)
I did not touch the right side nut.

I use my finger to push the latch (left side) about an eight of an inch down or slightly more.
Then I tighten it back & at the same time I tighten the right side, too.

Assembly the visor back and cover the roof.
Finally did a water test.

Wala, what do you know??

NO MORE WATER LEAK!!!
The gap between the roof & windscreen is gone!!!

Dude, you are a lifesaver.!!!

A thousand thank you.
and now I can have my pack of six peacefully, LOL.

Have a nice day

Hi
jbank15

Good day.

Yes, you took the words out of my mouth.
Best of the Best (BOB)

A thousand' thank you
and a thousand apologies for getting into the wrong category
as I am an old guy, very absent minded at time & older than you, LOL.

Just out of curiosity, can I ask a silly question??

Well, being an old guy, I had & have many silly remarks & comments about me driving a SLK.
Many said & say, it is not suitable for an old guy unless I do this & do that, LOL.
Did you or do have this silly remarks & comments??

You know what I am trying to say??

Thank you & have a nice day

ps: I am just thinking out loud

Thanks but I always get compliments on my car and hardly nothing is ever said about me, or my age except I need to act it! :D
Hi
Everybody
Good day
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.

A few days ago, I did the latch' adjustment on the windscreen.
Since it is holiday, I decided to do one step further > adjustment on the roof latch.

To do it, I have to keep the roof half open & I do not have support brace to prevent it from closing with the engine off.
So I make do with what I have.
I use the 4 pieces of luggage suckers & two cardboard tubings.
Then I remove the 4 screws on the roof lining without take it out completely.

I can see the torx screws holding the latch
Then loosen it & push it back as much as possible > only a mm or 2mm of free-play available.
Then tighten it back.

At the same time, I loosen the screws (2 only, not necessary all) on the side rubber lining.
Then I pull it out about 2 to 3 mm the tighten it back. (see pic with blue mark)
then tighten an assemble everything back.

When the roof is closed, it is now a tight fit & the gap between the roof & the windscreen is gone.
Earlier after adjusting the windscreen latch, there was still a slight gap even though there was no more water leak.

Thank you & have a nice day

ps: sorry I have reached the pictures limit. Should have 8 more.
On the last picture, when I pull down the roof lining, I saw 2 labels stuck on it, any idea why it is there & also is it price & a replacement part?? Just curious. that's all
