I've got a line on a sweeet deal sl500 rims 2003 But they are 17x8.5 and the slk sport is 17x8. Mine are showing age piting paint flaking , etc. thinking for 400 usd might be worth a try.

Anyone "upgraded" to the 17x8.5?

You need to know the offset; and keep in mind that the SL uses 14mm wheel bolts.

Thanks

Good to know about the wheel bolts. Offset is 35, but the seller says they aren't staggerd, which I can't believe then SL500 didn't have a staggered set up.

After a few hours of research I think the offset is 5 mm off the front ( oem is 30 I think) coupled with the extra inch width in the front would cause some problems.

If two wheels are 8” and two are 8.5” that is staggered; if the offset of all four wheels is 35mm you should have no problems with fitment (a 170 specialist should chime in here).
You will need shorter 12mm wheel bolts that have the seat radius of the 14mm bolts.
